Canadian Residents: Stay Near the Magic with an Affordable Stay and Play Package

DANG! it's not good soon enough! Hubby charged me last night with putting together a trip for Jan 2- 9th! Never done it with such a short lead time, going batty here

Hmm. Offer is only for off site hotels. Looks like you have to call to get a list of the ones that are participating. If anyone is thinking of doing this, let us know how the savings stack up against the discounts at Mousesavers, or the hotel's own discounts.

I'm even surprised that they would be promoting offsite hotels. Seems kinda strange that they would promote something that they make no money on.

I agree with the last post weird Disney would promote off site...

I agree ... weird for them to being promoting this .... usually we get a wider window of time to book a promo, or a slightly different window of time.

What do you mean they make no money on this? They're going to make the money on the Park tickets that are part of the given package, and the gobs of money spent by the people in the parks that go as part of these packages.

They make money, plus with a number of their own hotels going through renos this is a way to keep the park numbers up in off season.

We've stayed at the Clarion 1 night before in November but booked it through Expedia for $60 CAN $ per night.

I wouldn't consider all of spring break and Easter off season. And the only resort undergoing extensive reno is VWL., although many resort pools are getting refurbed in the next few months, while the weather is cool.

The thing is, its usually not hard to find regular discounts at off site hotels. You don't often see the WDW website touting discounts at offsite hotels. Perhaps this is an indicator that Disney is planning even fewer special offers at their own resorts, continuing the trend we've seen in the last year or 2.

DL promotes the offsite hotels (obviously, as there are only three onsite) as good neighbour hotels. Maybe WDW is going to start doing the same thing more heavily and this is a bit of a test run to see if people are interested. It would allow them to raise the onsite prices but still have a finger in the offsite pool of visitors.

I was disappointed to see that. I've been to Disney so many times, and once I stayed onsite I never went back off site. So what they are offering is not a deal for me. Maybe business is so good they don't have to offer any deals. I think if you price out a trip to an offsite hotel, you can bring it in cheaper at a better hotel. Not a deal for me.:sad2:

Attendance is up at WDW so they have no real need to discount rooms. That being said, by making it a package, they can ensure that the guests will go to WDW, and no another park like Universal or Sea World. They have locked in the guest, even though that individual is not staying onsite., and they are ensuring that once the package is paid for, the guest will not likely spend their money on other things that are not Disney.

We are wanting to go to Disney again in 2016. But the more I look into it the more Universal is looking better.
