What are your thoughts on our pavilion?

Happy about it?
Insulted with the stereotypes?

While I don't dislike it, I think it is one of the weaker pavilions. One shop, a merch cart, the popcorn/beer cart, the movie, Le Cellier, and a bunch of empty buildings. I think part of the problem is a lack of a draw INTO the pavilion. With the Boutique being empty, there isn't a lure to go up the steps and explore then travel down the back steps to the movie. People go through the gardens to get to Le Cellier (Mmmmmmm), and some do go to Kidcot and to watch the movie. Kidcot is a bit of a search for many people.

The movie is obviously dated, but is kind of neat. It's just so hard to represent such a large, diverse country!

I'm incredibly biased, but I think most of the Canuck cast members are fabulous.... :D And the stir-fry beef tips and pan-seared salmon at Le Cellier are FANTASTIC!

Been discussed and debated here many times... Everyone has an opinion, some more heated than others.

The movie is being updated as it needs to be. They need some truely Canadian stuff there though. Example. Funnel cakes with icecream lol. Tim Hortons coffee. Now that would be a draw to any Canuck there. I know my wife would be there daily. Many ppl would get the park hopper just for that reason lol. They could do a bit more in the pavilion but it's not too bad.
I do look forward to talking the the Canadian CM's.

Funnel cakes are actually sold at the American Adventure, as well as in Liberty Square in MK. I guess they are considered an American dessert? I actually never heard of them until I went down there. Can't say I'm a fan, but I think it's because watching funnel cakes being made remind me too much of Beaver Tails, which made me sick the first time I had one... Eek!

I was completely insulted by the movie. It was so outdated it was scary. I was so happy when I heard that thye were updating it.

Yes, but could they handle the drive up lines .....
Ummm, Never Mind:rolleyes1

OMG yes.. A Tim Hortons in the Canadian pavillion .. with a drive up window for ECV's and wheelchairs or even the Stroller Brigade (TM).

PERFECT.

And when you think about it.. if they did that.. Canadians would get in the line up just for the novelty.

It is no wonder that the rest of the world (especially American's) think we live in some obscure land as eskimos.....:rotfl: The movie is so sad, I am glad they are updating it, although I am a little worried. I wonder if they actually use Canadian's when making it..:rotfl:

I purposely don't go into the pavilion, I can't stand the feeling that everyone gets the wrong impression of Canada and Canadian's ! You did know that you can drive across our country in hours :lmao:

I was shocked to see the Christmas storyteller was a lumberjack with an axe. They called him Papa Noel. I'd never seen or heard of this character before. Does this even exist anywhere?
The CM's were very nice, but looked so uncomfortable in their flannel.
The stereotyping doesn't surprise me much as the other countries are dealt with in the same way. A lot more could be done with all of them to make them better representations of their countries.

Hi guys, We were there in Dec and are on our way back in March!! Hurray:cool1:
Anyhoo I could not believe Papa Noel, He was nice but my kids had no idea what he was talking about. They related better to father Christmas in UK.
We LOVE talking to the Cm's and my kids have not yet seen the movie-motion sickness- but oh my a TH tea would be excellent while watching Illuminations!!:wizard:

Glad to see I'm not the only one insulted with the stereotypes.

Then again.... all the pavilions ahve theirs right? Vikings anyone?

I love the pavilion but hate the news of a new movie that alone will keep me away from there from now on.

F4 -- Why hate the news of a new movie about Canada?

You're really in love with the one from 1979 ?

:)

That would be "heaven in the Happiest Place on Earth". :thumbsup2

I don't actually mind the movie, but looking forward to something new. And since my DNephew will be a CM in the pavillion exactly one month from today, I'll refrain from making fun of the lumberjack outfits. :rotfl:

I do enjoy talking to the CM's, and can't wait to get another meal at Le Cellier. Maybe they should come up with a Tim Horton's CS restaurant there. :goodvibes

The lumberjack costumes aren't great, but I don't think they are as bad as the costumes the other Internationals wear! We're pretty much the only girls in the World Showcase that don't have to wear panty-hose on a daily basis... Thank God! They aren't flattering costumes, but they aren't as warm as one would think. As well, they don't become see-through in the rain - unlike the poor UK merchies! :(

(Who quite misses her lumberjack costume)

Anyone else have the lyrics of I'm a Lumberjack and I'm okay going through their heads? Maybe that is just me.

Does anyone else think their choice of a main building (Hotel du Canada I believe they call it?) was sort of random? Took me ages to figure out what the heck it was supposed to be representing, and I still can't say I've seen the building that it's supposed to look like... I might be a bit biased but I'd imagine more Canadians had seen (and would recognize), say, the CN tower (can you tell I'm from TO? lol) than the Château Laurier (which is apparently the building it was modeled after).

I'm actually listening to Muppet Treasure Island.. so.. no.. No lumberjack tunes.

But yay lumberjacks!
:)

As for the main building in Canada.. I always thought it looked a bit like different buildings around the Ottawa area. And also it reminds me of the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City.. Disneyfied.
