Hello All ~ We are planning a trip to the UK in the future. We are a mum, dad dd13 and dd7.

We are interested in visiting London for a few days, then taking a motor coach and/or trains around northern England and Scotland.

We'd like to visit Wales and Ireland too.

Any advise on planning this trip? Thanks! Sandra

Once you've "done" London make sure you visit York. Whilst in Scotland you will have to visit Edinburgh. When you head towards Wales make sure you visit the Mediaevil town of Shrewsbury (pronounced Shrozebury) on the border along with Chester.

Hi SandraC :goodvibes
If you find time you must try and visit Cornwall.
Im a fan as I live there but it is truly a beautiful part of England with lot's to do and see.
We are surrounded by lovely beaches and very quaint little villages.
King Arthur country is great to visit as is the Eden Project, St Michaels mount, the list is really endless.
Wherever you go I hope you enjoy yourselfs.

Is Gastonbury [sp?] worth a trip? I'm a bit of a hippie. Also, I hear there are tour groups that can go right into Stonehenge? Thanks! S

Yes. These are the Special Access tours. A friend of mine went on one where they were taken to Avebury, another neolithic stone circle, afterwards. :thumbsup2

hello there, i love your country by the way and am going back again soon. just a couple of bits that may help, try
nationalexpress.co.uk for coach times and fares, always try and book at least one week in advance
therailline.co.uk for railfares and journeys - try and book at least four weeks in advance if you can, travel off peak (ie after 9 am and not between 4:30 and 7:00 pm) and ask for single journays as they can work out cheaper.

also you can prepurchase rail and coach passes for the uk before you get here, I'm not sure where from or if they'll work out cheaper but i have seen people use them so it may be worth searching online at your end
