Am I the only one a little concerned at our dollar dropping lower? :scared1: I'm kicking myself for not buying large amounts last year

Not to worried about it a dollar is a dollar is a dollar I had some purchased at a great rate then some at not such a great rate. It is currency it is like a roller coaster sometimes it is up sometimes it is down.

Today, I booked two weeks in Florida for later this year. I had to pay 50% deposit down for the two weeks. I'm not sure of the exact exchange rate but I called my credit card company to verify the charge was put through and it worked out to be just over 21 %. Still not complaining though. I think in 09/2002, it was 38%!!!

Well just last week I went and got my US money. I wanted $1000.00 and it cost me $1200.01 Canadian. Ouch When my husband and I went to Vegas in October is was just under $1100.00 for $1000.00 :(

The exchange rate is currently around 1.19. You were charged a nasty (and useless) foreign conversion fee of 2% to 2.5% by your credit card company to make it 21% or 21.5%. Jack Layton is on the warpath to get rid of ATM fees. I hope he takes a run at foreign conversion fees next.

There's an idea! I hope someone tackles the credit card fee too! I use my credit cards a lot more than my debit. With my debit card, I don't find I have too many problems waiting to use a specific machine but I guess that's because I work in downtown Toronto.

That is what I don't like about using credit cards in the US. It is just a gamble on what exchange rate they will charge. Deb:confused3
