I refuse to even try to quote with the ipod. But real life update: right now Elle is getting worked on by a make-up artist and her friend is getting her hair done by a hair stylist in preparation of their high school grad.

My most cherished (that sounds corny... but it's the way I feel) memory is of our first trip with the kids.
Kay was only four and she was a very reserved child.
Shyed away from people, never spoke much to us either.
I didn't think the girls were all that interested in characters.
We were in DHS and we came across some lines for Pooh, Tigger and probably others.
Suddenly Kay tugged on my hand and pointed. I asked her if she wanted to see Pooh?
It really surprised me since she didn't like meeting new people.
Didn't like new things, generally.
She started to pull me towards the line. So we got in line.
When it was our turn, she just grabbed onto Pooh in a hug.
This from a child who never hugged, or wanted to be hugged.
After a few seconds, maybe half a minute,
I started to tell her that we had to go so other kids would get a chance to meet Pooh.
Pooh just waved me away and Kay kept hugging. It went on for a long time.

God, just talking about it gets me choked up.

Twenty-eight minutes after passing through one set of tapstiles,
I was passing through the next.

Not to shabby!

Nevertheless, I wandered around for a bit, just taking in the atmosphere.
It turned out to be mostly Nitrogen with a good chunk of Oxygen and traces of other gasses.

The two columns that you see are recreations of ones found in St. Mark's square.
The one on the left is St. Theodore slaying a "dragon" (represented by a crocodile).
He was the patron saint of the city before St. Mark.
The column on the right has a winged lion which is the Lion of Venice and is the symbol of St. Mark.

Very nifty. I have actually wondered about those columns in the past so really truly Thanks for the Lesson! Neat to know!

It's really amazing, though, how many kids and adults like to watch model trains.
I don't know why. But we do.

We have a train room set up in our house. (That may, or may not,be left over from Christmas. )

You know that fake "cuckoo! cuckoo!" sound the clocks make?
Yeah. Not so fake.
When we were in Germany way back in the mid '90s,
we heard real cuckoo birds.
They sound exactly like the sounds cuckoo clocks make.

Remember the brain dead mom who let her son play with the ropes in France
and was too busy on the phone to parent?

Suffice to say, her sister was in Germany that day.

As I'm admiring the clocks, this little boy,
about six? Eight? Years old, ducks under the rope,
runs up to the clocks and starts swinging his arm back and forth.

Really?!?! COME ON!

I really wish he'd broken one or more of the clocks.
Mom: "Oh, I'm so sorry. My little darling is so silly. I'm sure you understand."

CM: "No problem. These things happen... Now.
Did you want us to charge $4,800 to your room?
Or would you prefer another payment method?"

Chocolate and caramel covered Rice Krispie square.
