Canadian Buffoon's Semi-EPIC Vacation - 10/29 - Link to new TR!

I'm usually more of a lurker, but I enjoy reading your trip reports!
Well, hi there, Regina!
:welcome: to the TR!

You're not kidding that you're
a lurker.
20 posts over 10+ years!
Thanks so much for
coming out of lurkdom

for a bit to say "hi". :goodvibes
I had to chime in and let you know that I almost "fangirled" out on you earlier this month when I was a couple of people behind you in line at Rip Ride and Rock It in Universal Studios. :rotfl2:
What!?!?!?!?
You so should have!!!
I've never had anyone
say hi to me before
(At least from people
I don't know...
More on that later.)

I probably would've

flustered myself up!

I managed to maintain my composure, though. Hope you had a great time.

We had the best time!

Hi there!
Hi!! Long time no see!

:welcome: to the TR!
I was actually here yesterday but was on my phone a lunch break and didn't have time to start quoting.
But you're here now! :goodvibes
Each to their own I suppose. On work days I have porridge but with raisins.
Careful.
There's some around these parts
that would not take kindly to any

talk of raisins.

:tiptoe:
Congratulations to Elle. Well done!
I've passed that along.
Put a smile on her face. :)

Now you tell me!
You didn't get my email either?
Ouch! Not a good flight time! Hannah is just about to experience her first 12.5 hour night shift which I don't envy.
Ah... I remember those.
Did more than my share.

Now my night shifts are only

eight hours long.
I remember doing that but we had the excuse of crossing the Atlantic!
No good excuse here.
I slept a bit before!

Me too!
We've stayed there will be interested in your thoughts.
Coming up pretty soon. :)
I did - your branding has gone all upmarket!

::yes::

Guilty as charged.
Not in the least surprised.
Exactly, close the door behind you and be done with it...I mean, open the door and run and jump.
Well, I wouldn't close it.
That'd take too much time.
I'm too busy fleeing.
When I was about 8/9 I never wanted to leave my mom home alone because I felt like she would miss us too much...and I missed her a lot.
Awwww... :)
Then around 14 I stopped going because travel basketball and basketball camps occupied my time in the summer.
Did you miss it, then?

Folks?
I need just a wee bit of help, here.
I just finished my 19th shift over
16 straight days and I have five more
to go with 2 short changes thrown in.

I'm a bit... woozy.
If I've missed anyone in the shout-outs,
can you let me know?

'preciate it.

I know you may not get that reference, but...

This is true EXCEPT at Disney!

PMing...

:rolleyes2

Correct. It's a full time job... even after they move out.

After a week of Disney, I wish I could be her- party or not.

I meant EAST! :sad2:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I am just one of the peon masses.

Its just a jump to the left

Actually I find flying West kinda cool...arriving before you left....see above.

If you have an early morning flight...going from where the sun has already risen back into night or dusk is a cool effect.

Jeez! I'm finally getting back here and you're already on page 5!

April 29th.
It snowed this morning.
😭

Car loaded, and our bleary
selves loaded, we headed out
and arrived at the airport
at 3am, two hours ahead
of flight time.

I had one of those early morning flights booked for this past April. The flight left at 5:30 am so when I started calculating what time we'd need to wake up…somewhere around 2-2:30 am…I changed it to the night before and just added a night to our trip. I think Elle might have had the right idea to just stay up.
We were the first to board.
She looks happy about
her extra space, don't you think?

IMG_1649b_zpsiahzjv6d.jpg
She does ::yes:: And there's something familiar about those seats...

Se explained that she thought it
would be a "good idea" to just not
go to bed since we had to leave
at 2:30am.

She'd gotten up for work at
5:30am the day before.
By now, she'd been up for
almost 24 hours.

She must have been exhausted, but I kind of agree with her.

I mean... We ran.

We made it to our gate at 9:23.
They had started boarding...
but were still in the process.
Phew!

Yikes! That made me anxious just to read!

So... do we look more happy
that we made it? Or relieved?

Both!

Who else loves taking this
when they arrive in Florida?

:wave::worship::love:

We got to DME at 12:48pm
and walked through an empty
queue and barely broke stride
as we marched right onto
a waiting bus.
Our checked bags would find
us in our rooms later on,
so we just dumped off our
carry-ons.
I did however, bring my
camera bag inside the bus, with me.
At 15:55pm we were on our way!

I admit, sometimes I get tripped up by times, especially with time zone changes, but I don't think this makes sense :confused3 It couldn't have taken you three hours? I'm guessing one of these was your time back home?

I suppose it's a good thing
it hit my head on the way down.
Probably saved me some repairs.
I can always replace the plate
in my head, but a good camera
isn't easy to find in Disney.

Oh, no! Ouch!

Old Key West!

I love Old Key West. It was one of the first places I stayed in WDW…for an extended stay, anyway…in 2006. My DS was just 4 at the time and learned to swim underwater in that pool :goodvibes

Just hold on a second, lady.
This ain't my first rodeo.

I asked the CM to point out
where our room was located.

She grabbed a map and
explained it thusly:
"We're here (circles Hospitality House)
and to get to your room, you just hop
on a resort shuttle and take it along
this road, past the pool, around the
bend, past Typhoon Lagoon, get on I-4,
follow that past Celebration, keep going
until you reach Tampa, get on a boat,
take the boat to a bigger boat, cruise
past St. Petersburg, transfer to an
even bigger ship, cruise out into
the Gulf of Mexico, past Havana,
cruise down past Central America,
go through the Panama Canal,
dock at Panama City, take a cab
out into the rainforest, get on a
burro and ride it into the mountains.
Stop there."

OKW is big and sprawling.
And where our room was...
Was in the farthest building away.

Good thing you asked! I do love OKW, but I HATE having to take an internal bus to get to a room. I'm glad they moved you closer :-)

If you happen to miss anyone in the shout outs, I hope we'd/they'd understand.

I would say get some rest, but I'm sure you'd like to.
:sad2:

We'd get along fine, then.
Butter on everything!

Hey. Listen.
I would rock that off the shoulder
dress/mini skirt.

Tinkerbill has nothing on me!

::yes::
It's amazing what changes have
been wrought over the last year
or two.

Well, that explains why you
didn't get it.

I've read it.
It's interesting.

::yes::

What's your priority?
The last time I stayed at ASMU,
I used the room finder to locate
the block of exact rooms I wanted.
I listed them in order of priority.

I got my first pick.

Nah. Not so bad. :)

 yes you did!
I'd like to see you in a tink dress. Purely for blackma err comic relief purposes.

Oops. Removing duplicate post. Don't want to see you in a tink dress THAT MUCH!

Yeah, your night shifts are only 8 hours long, but often coupled with an 8 hour day shift, so 16 hours by my math!

Actually I find flying West kinda cool...arriving before you left....see above.

If you have an early morning flight...going from where the sun has already risen back into night or dusk is a cool effect.
I've not experienced that.
And it seems... pretty cool!

dress/mini skirt.

Tinkerbill has nothing on me!

But do you have Pixie Dust?

::yes::
It's amazing what changes have
been wrought over the last year
or two.

I'm finding that Danielle is maturing too.

Well, that explains why you
didn't get it.

Perfectly.

What's your priority?
The last time I stayed at ASMU,
I used the room finder to locate
the block of exact rooms I wanted.
I listed them in order of priority.

I got my first pick.

Being in 50s either Lady or Tramp.

I'll do some playing with the locator. Thanks for the help.

Well... it turned out to work
quite well for her.
Her plane rides were only
seconds long, to her!

I don't sleep on planes,

so it wouldn't work for me. :)
She does ::yes:: And there's something familiar about those seats...

Nope, just a typo.
(fixed! thanks!)
We only waited seven
minutes between the
time we boarded and the

time we took off.
Oh, no! Ouch!
At least it didn't land
on anything important!

I love Old Key West. It was one of the first places I stayed in WDW…for an extended stay, anyway…in 2006. My DS was just 4 at the time and learned to swim underwater in that pool :goodvibes
Awww... that's a great
memory.
I was just telling someone
the other day how I still
remember learning to swim
underwater at the lake

my mom used to take us to.
Good thing you asked! I do love OKW, but I HATE having to take an internal bus to get to a room. I'm glad they moved you closer :-)
Me too!
I didn't want to walk
miles or wait for a bus

to take a bus.

If you happen to miss anyone in the shout outs, I hope we'd/they'd understand.
Just wanna make sure
nobody gets missed. :)

I would say get some rest, but I'm sure you'd like to.
:sad2:
I did!!!
I got almost 9 hours
of sleep last night!
Can you believe that???
I didn't even know that

anyone could sleep that long!
I'd like to see you in a tink dress. Purely for blackma err comic relief purposes.
Hmmm... well, then you're
never gonna see it.

Oops. Removing duplicate post. Don't want to see you in a tink dress THAT MUCH!
:lmao:
Yeah, your night shifts are only 8 hours long, but often coupled with an 8 hour day shift, so 16 hours by my math!
But technically, most of it
is on the next calendar day.

Something else we agree on.

Will you marry me?

Wait... we're already married.

Hmmm...
Will you consult with your DH,
convert to Mormonism,

move to Utah, and then marry me?

I wouldn't normally ask...
but butter is involved here!

But do you have Pixie Dust?
You're darned tootin' I do!!
I'm finding that Danielle is maturing too.
Kinda magical to watch,
isn't it? :goodvibes

Being in 50s either Lady or Tramp.

I'll do some playing with the locator. Thanks for the help.
You're welcome and good luck!

Well... this sucks.
My work just blocked Photobucket.
Glad I loaded a bunch of photos there.

Either I try to find some other hosting site
(that doesn't meet the criteria "Media sharing")
or I stop writing while on my breaks...
Which is going to put a serious crimp

in my output.

Wow that's really great offer but I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass. Remember I like black olives. I'm afraid that would get in the way and I don't want things to end badly. But we can still be best buds!

You're darned tootin' I do!!

This I gotta see. Cause you know "seeing is believing".

Kinda magical to watch,
isn't it? :goodvibes

Yes it is. Especially when it's the baby.

You're welcome and good luck!

I filled out my info last night. We only have 197 more sleeps until we go.

I'm here! I was glad you had posted a full update already- something to do while I had my students in the computer lab for longer than I expected!

Can't wait to hear more about your resort- that meal at Olivia's looked great!

Wow that's really great offer but I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass. Remember I like black olives.
Oh yeah. That's a deal breaker.
I'm afraid that would get in the way and I don't want things to end badly. But we can still be best buds!
Best buds it is! :goodvibes
This I gotta see. Cause you know "seeing is believing".
I use it on Disney busses, mostly.
Yes it is. Especially when it's the baby.
::yes::

Just a blink of an eye!
