Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

Not a gin fan. Can I get a martini with just olives? :lmao:
I'm not a gin fan either,
although I can drink it.

But not an olive fan.
So I'll have a dry martini,
hold the gin and olives.

Which... is an empty glass.
Hey! Here comes that guy from Winnipeg. He looks constipated and exhausted...check his bag.
You remembered that!?!?
I have a sure fire method to win and it's legal...just time consuming....requires patience and discipline.
I don't think there is such a thing?
Unless you're talking about
doubling each bet... which

doesn't work due to table limits.
Guess it's good you're not afraid of heights.
Heights only bother me
a little bit.
I didn't like jumping out
of a plane, but really enjoyed

it after the parachute opened.
As much as you love dismeets, I.would never peg you for an introvert. Compared to Liesa, though.
People I "know"
and "know" me.
Makes a difference.
I'm not comfortable
in larger groups,
especially if I don't know
many of them.

Reason why I'll almost certainly

never do a DDC.
When I worked in downtown Atlanta, there was one.I regularly walked by and it was simply known as the flat iron building. Didn't realize it was a style...I thought it was THE one
;)
Then this might shock you:
List of buildings named Flatiron Building - Wikipedia
Is dim sum Chinese for you pig?
But then I wondered and...
Apparently the literal translation is
So close to the heart.

Which I presume is your distended

belly's location in relation to it.
That does sound very interesting.
::yes::

I can do that when you come visit and I'll.only charge you $3 per. :lmao: Quite a bargain for a martini.
For me, it's just be a jar of olives.

You remembered that!?!

Okay...I'm on phone, so harder to type
Bet minimum
If you win, take half of winning and leave other half + original bet
If you lose go back to minimum
Blackjack is streaky in that you'll win several and lose several in a row

You won't win fast (patience) and you must not (as most do) chase the loss by doubling next bet (discipline). It may take a while, but you will walk out a winner. EVERY TIME.

Essentially you're using the house's money against them.

Makes sense...but it's a great group of guys (except maybe Darcy :lmao:) and I'm sure you'd get to know and like them quickly.

Interesting.
As long as you don't
start with a losing streak of course.

Could be.
So, I was almost right. :rolleyes1
Very close...

Very.

Interesting.
As long as you don't

While that is remotely possible, it's never happened to me because I make sure I have at least enough for 30-40 hands to start with. I.e. for a $5 table, start with minimum $150.

On a $2 table, I started with $100 and walked out with $1000. About 2 hours. Best rain delay ever. I was on my bike and.it was raining (rare in Vegas). Needed to wait it out so roads weren't slick.

Wow! Nice run there. :thumbsup2

Well...the reason it works

When you're winning, you're winning bigger with each successive hand(using their money against them), so exponentially

When you're losing, you're losing the minimum linearly.

Might have to give it a try. :)

I wonder if I'd like that?
I'm not a fan of martinis
although I can drink one.

What's the prevalent taste?

This one was VERY sweet and chocolatey with a vodka taste for the alcohol.
Nah.
I've gotten used to it.
Seems like my bag gets
selected every time now.
I just accept that it's part
of the screening process

and go with it.

Mine has occasionally when I've been especially doofus-y, but more often, like almost 100% of the time, my checked bag(s) get inspected.
And I once saw one guy lose...
Must've been around $600
on just one hand.
(Split 2-3 ways, but still,

all at once.)

I don't know what that means, but... ouch.

I love swinging bridges.
The simplicity of design
combined with the fun

of the bouncy walk. :)

Wheeee!!!!

Nope.
For an introvert,
this was perfect.

Zero people. Ahhhhh...
"I'll have some of that...
and that...
<burp>
and those...
<Lord I'm stuffed>
those look good...
<please make me stop>
some of those, please...
<stop! just stop!>
I'll have that too....

<explodes>

They do really stand out.
And they all have plaques
with details of when they
were carved and by whom
and what they represent.

Really quite interesting.

I never noticed if the totems at EPCOT have plaques or not.
Kind of came out of nowhere.
I really liked that.

Love hidden treasures like that!
I remember we couldn't finish our tea.
I should have known!

That trifle at the end... just... no way.
But...
Then I thought.
"Wait... they don't want you to leave...
they want you to order
something else."

Fair point.
But this time it wasn't
even for me!

Such a shame... but lucky girl you have!
I tried to make it a bit darker
(blacks more dark/vivid)
but didn't want to overdo it.

And it's easy to (over)do.
Love it.
I need to get to Moraine Lake.
With the lost iPod the last time

I was in the area, I never got the chance.
OH that's right. I remember that escapade.

This one was VERY sweet and chocolatey with a vodka taste for the alcohol.
Vodka?
Why didn't you say so?
I'm in!
Mine has occasionally when I've been especially doofus-y,
Ruh, roh...
but more often, like almost 100% of the time, my checked bag(s) get inspected.
Perhaps...
Because of your
occasional doofusyness??
I don't know what that means, but... ouch.
That's exactly
what it means!

Wheeee!!!!
I never noticed if the totems at EPCOT have plaques or not.
I haven't noticed either.
Huh.

Love hidden treasures like that!
::yes::
That trifle at the end... just... no way.
So pretty...
and to this day,
I have no idea

how it tasted! :lmao:
Such a shame... but lucky girl you have!
I sure hope she
feels like she's lucky!

Vodka?
Why didn't you say so?
I'm in!
You'll have to get one next time!
Perhaps...
Because of your
occasional doofusyness??

No, I don't think so. I don't usually have 'weird' stuff in my bag.
So pretty...
and to this day,
I have no idea

how it tasted! :lmao:

Disney food often tastes, well, not as good as it looks.
I sure hope she
feels like she's lucky!
Hard to know with kids anymore. "Thank you", "I appreciate that", and "Hi Dad, how are you today?" seem to be a lost art. Even if they do feel it.

The approximately two-hour
crossing was both scenic and
(again) uneventful.
Very nice, always like uneventful!
You want uneventful on planes
and boats.
Actually, I’m thinking you want
it on most forms of transportation.
Yes indeed!
I drove over to the Teahouse
overlooking the Abkhazi Gardens

I sat back and admired the view.
Beautiful
I ordered a pot of tea, which,
surprisingly, I enjoyed
I love tea with scones, clotted cream, biscuits, milk, honey otherwise why bother! Haha 😆
Yeah, despite being hungry,
it was way too much
food for one person.
I left the table with a serious
dent in the presentation, however!
This is exactly why I would order tea!
After checking in and receiving
a brief safety lesson, we set out
on a 3-hour kayak tour.
(A 3-hour tour.
On Gilligans Isle!
Hard to believe that only
Tina Louise (Ginger) is left.
Wow, I didn’t know that, she must be pretty old!
We set out on the smooth
as glass waters of Sooke Basin.
Very cool 😎
We saw seals (but never got
close enough to photograph them),
as well as tons of jellyfish, starfish
and sea cucumbers.
Those are some slimy sea creatures!
The line barely moved, but
eventually, after about 30-40
minutes, I got to the front of the line.
Oh boy!
“One seafood chowder, please!” :goodvibes
“Sorry, we’re out.” :(

Definitely worth the wait
Oh no, that would have been such a treat after your three hour tour!
All I’m going to say is that
the gardens are spectacular.
If you ever get a chance to
visit Victoria, I highly recommend it.
There’s a reason why the gardens at the
Canada Pavilion in Epcot are modeled after it.
Wow just gorgeous and I certainly see the resemblance of the one at Epcot!
The famous Sunken Garden
portion of the gardens
I love gardens, wish we had more around here!
Look delicious, right?
Well… you wouldn’t be wrong.
The only problem is…
That bottom layer has coconut
in it, and I just can’t do coconut.
That does look very good! I love a bar with some coconut!
A short walk later brought me to
Brandywine Falls.
Another beautiful picture! It looks like a very picturesque hike
Leaving Whistler, I stopped on
the side of the road to photograph
a rushing stream as it tumbled by.
The color of the water is such a beautiful blue
The Vancouver airport was not
uncrowded like Winnipeg had been.
Quite the opposite.
No fun, I hate when it is really crowded!
Thanks for sharing your trip. I have never been to Vancouver, very nice!

Very nice, always like uneventful!
::yes::
Beautiful
Definitely one of the
better views I've had
while dining!
I love tea with scones, clotted cream, biscuits, milk, honey otherwise why bother! Haha 😆
Exactly!
Tea? Whatever.
Bring on the grub!

I love the little sammies. :)
This is exactly why I would order tea!
If you don't explode,
what's the point?!?!?

On Gilligans Isle!
:thumbsup2
Wow, I didn’t know that, she must be pretty old!
She's 89.
90 in 4 months.

Those are some slimy sea creatures!
Interestingly,
when he held out the two
starfish, he invited us to
touch them.
One was slimy, but the other

felt almost like sandpaper.
Oh no, that would have been such a treat after your three hour tour!
Yeah, I was a bit disappointed.
But not sure if I was more
disappointed that there was
no chowder, or that I stood

in line for so long for nothing.
Wow just gorgeous and I certainly see the resemblance of the one at Epcot!
[/QUOTE]
Right?? :)

I love gardens, wish we had more around here!
Sometimes a drive is worthwhile. :)
I've driven out of my way more than once.

That does look very good! I love a bar with some coconut!
You can have mine!
Another beautiful picture! It looks like a very picturesque hike
It was. :)
The color of the water is such a beautiful blue
It's really quite the standout.
No fun, I hate when it is really crowded!
It wasn't the best... :sad2:
Thanks for sharing your trip. I have never been to Vancouver, very nice!
Glad you enjoyed it! :goodvibes

That does look very good! I love a bar with some coconut!
::yes::

I love tea with scones, clotted cream, biscuits, milk, honey otherwise why bother! Haha 😆
Sounds quite British of you. So, US(Southern) biscuits or Britsh(cookies)?

That’s true.
The cupcakes are a
good example of that.
At be our guest?

Actually they do say
“Thanks for dinner.”
At least you get THAT!

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed.
But not sure if I was more
disappointed that there was
no chowder, or that I stood

in line for so long for nothing.
It would have been standing in line that long without obtaining what I came for, so both.

Okay… I’ve already spent a
whole day in Vancouver,
so, it’s time to leave, right?

Makes sense. The only continually diminishing resource is time.

I had reserved in advance and
I’m glad I had as there was a long
line of cars (that I subsequently
passed.)

See ya, suckahs.

Nice. Did they show you that you were #1 as you passed?

You want uneventful on planes
and boats.
Actually, I’m thinking you want
it on most forms of transportation.

Truth.

I say “surprisingly” because
I don’t really care for tea all that
much, unless it’s cold and
ridiculously sweet.
And has lemon in it.
Or some other flavour like
raspberry or peach.
And doesn’t really taste like… tea.

I'm not big on tea, either. Meh.

Yeah, despite being hungry,
it was way too much
food for one person.
I left the table with a serious
dent in the presentation, however!

Attaboy!

After checking in and receiving
a brief safety lesson, we set out
on a 3-hour kayak tour.
(A 3-hour tour.)

You have to do it. You have to.

For a three hour tour.
A three hour tour.

Ok, now it's stuck in my head. Thanks a lot.

Except… WWII mines had
magnetic triggers…
This mine-sweeper was made of… wood.

 Stupid science, ruining a perfectly good get-rich scheme.

IMG_4797.jpg

Wow, that thing looks disgusting.

The line barely moved, but
eventually, after about 30-40
minutes, I got to the front of the line.
Oh boy!
“One seafood chowder, please!” :goodvibes
“Sorry, we’re out.” :(

Definitely worth the wait.

Come on, now. They couldn't have announced that somehow?

All I’m going to say is that
the gardens are spectacular.
If you ever get a chance to
visit Victoria, I highly recommend it.
There’s a reason why the gardens at the
Canada Pavilion in Epcot are modeled after it.

Well, this I gotta see!

Wow! That's really stunningly beautiful.

So… if you like what you see
and want a similar garden…
Just hire 50-70 people to work
on it every day.

I'm just going to put in astroturf.

This guy looks like he's related to the Drexel University dragon.

I couldn’t pass up a stroll through
the Japanese garden

But of course not.

That bottom layer has coconut
in it, and I just can’t do coconut.

Totally with you there. Blech.

Yes, like Disney math, it made sense
to drive two plus hours to avoid
a one-hour drive.

Like Disney math, it makes perfect sense in the moment. On reflection, though...

They complied and I was able bring
Kay back about 10 bars.
(Which, a couple days later,
when I got back home,
she stated “Oh. My. God. Best ever!!!”
So, mission accomplished. :goodvibes)

Worth it.

I did however get a lemon bar.
And that sucker was so rich and sweet
that it took me two days to finish!

Lemon sounds much better than coconut!

The Sea to Sky highway has been
named by no less illustrious institutions
such as Conde Nast and National Geographic
as one of the top ten drives in the world.

Really? I'd better add this to the list then. I honestly hadn't heard of it before.

It was completely fogged and rained in.
I couldn’t see anything except for a few
feet of road!

Ugh.

Looks beautiful!

I can get behind that naming convention. ::yes::

Beats Bridal Veil Falls.

I can't quote every photo, but this looks like amazing scenery!

Shannon Falls is located only a short
drive north of Vancouver and as such
is a quite popular place to visit.
(Apparently, it’s the Sea to Sky’s most
popular place to picnic.)

Wonder why. :rolleyes1

This is taking the joy out
of flying ya know.
They really need to have
a pkondz only line set up,
don’t you think?

Disney offers a Fastpass line here, but you have to pay extra for it.

Here you go @franandaj,
my one and only food porn photo
of the trip!

:rotfl2:

And that concludes my
summertime excursions for 2021
I sure hope 2022 brings just a bit
more normalcy and a chance
to travel a tad farther abroad.

I sure hope and pray that's the case for you. And all of us! The cabin fever got to be unbearable last year.

Nice update Love the gardens. Would love to see them one day.
I love waterfalls. You can keep the mountains and trees.
How in the world is the river that color?
No Harley places or what?

I took some time off work last week to spend with my aunt/mother. Went to Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. They have a Japanese Garden and an English Garden. I'll take you there one day if you can ever come.

Makes sense. The only continually diminishing resource is time.
Ain't that the truth.
Nice. Did they show you that you were #1 as you passed?
Actually...
I had a conversation with
a co-worker who's from there.
He said that if you're a visitor,
then to pay the extra $5 or so
for the reservation.
But for people who commute
every day, that would get pretty
pricey, so they go and just expect
that they might not get on until

the next ferry.
I'm not big on tea, either. Meh.
I put lots of milk and
even more sugar in it.

Helped.
<urp>
You have to do it. You have to.
It's pretty much a rule.
Ok, now it's stuck in my head. Thanks a lot.
You're welcome!

A three hour tour...

 Stupid science, ruining a perfectly good get-rich scheme.
Can you imagine the guy's
face when he realized what
he'd bought???
Wow, that thing looks disgusting.
I can attest that it tastes
like it looks.

Come on, now. They couldn't have announced that somehow?
Like I mentioned to Liesa.
If they did, then people might
not stand in line and then,
after hearing there's no chowder,
order something else.

Probably something more expensive, too.
Well, this I gotta see!
I'm not kidding...
I highly recommend it.
It's one of the best things

in all of Canada.
Wow! That's really stunningly beautiful.
::yes::
I'm just going to put in astroturf.
Knowing you, you'd probably
mow it every Saturday.

This guy looks like he's related to the Drexel University dragon.
Had to Google, but... yeah!

613216
Totally with you there. Blech.
Yep.
Coconut haters, unite!

Like Disney math, it makes perfect sense in the moment. On reflection, though...
Lemon sounds much better than coconut!
::yes::
Really? I'd better add this to the list then. I honestly hadn't heard of it before.
I've driven that and the
Icefields Parkway
(also listed by Conde Nast as
a top drive in the world),
and I'd have a hard time

deciding which is more breathtaking.
Looks beautiful!
And not named Bridal Veil Falls!
Beats Bridal Veil Falls.
I just said that!
I can't quote every photo, but this looks like amazing scenery!
Definitely was. ::yes::
Disney offers a Fastpass line here, but you have to pay extra for it.
Pay?
Who let that Genie out
of the bottle??

:rolleyes1
I sure hope and pray that's the case for you. And all of us! The cabin fever got to be unbearable last year.
Oh, man.
I know...
I
know!
