Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Sad to see your TR come to an end. Looking forward to hearing about the Hawaii trip.

BTW I hve since gone back and read you other TR's, which I enjoyed as well, didn't comment on them since they were so long ago.

Also all this talk about Tim Horton's. Before I moved here to Western NY (Near Rochester) I hadn't heard of them but we have a lot of them around here, very popular. I loved their Mocha Iced Capp and soup, I just wish they still had it in a bread bowl.

I'm sure you missed me!

Of course I did!
I miss everyone of my readers that I don't see for a while.

I've read along, but usually way late to the party, so I didn't get to chime in.

:(
Don't let that stop you next time!

Example (for your benefit):
"I read your post from six years ago and thought it was brilliant!
My Gawd, ponzi. You're not only incredibly handsome and debonair,
but you're an incredibly gifted writer!!!!"

You know. Like that.

Sounds like you enjoyed the trip despite the late starts, rain and stairs!

You know... I really did.
There were many more smiles than frowns.

Congrats on another successful VIP transportation package. I really need to figure out where to purchase that one! ;)

Thanks! It's a pretty exclusive offer.
They usually restrict it to incredibly handsome, debonair and gifted TR writers.

I have no idea why I got it.

Only just read the 1st chapter and I've laughed, cried, and laughed again! How do you do that magic you do?! *hugs across time and space*

:goodvibes

Well, hi there stranger!
I'm going to first officially :welcome: you to the TR!

I may have posted a little hello over on your board as well.
Just a tiny one.

Now... Let's see... I think I'm forgetting something.... hmmm.....
ah. got it.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW WORRIED I'VE BEEN???????????

ahem.

I really have been worried and of course, no way to find out how you've been.
If you were here in person, I'd put you over my knee and spank you!
Well... maybe not. Wouldn't want to hurt the little mermaid....
Maybe I'll just give you the world's biggest hug instead.
But gently. Just enough so that you know how much you've been missed.
Okay?

ETA.
Oh. Everybody? This is Rebecca. She's one of my favourite people. Be nice to her.

Won't be long now.
February is almost here!

You did!?!? Wow!
That must not have been easy with the links all broken.
I will eventually fix those.

And now you're all caught up and can comment to your heart's desire on the Maui portion.
Or not. This is an equal opportunity TR.

Really! I had no idea!

I loved their Mocha Iced Capp and soup, I just wish they still had it in a bread bowl.

I'd never gotten around to having their bread bowl.
Wanted to... but it's one of those "Oh, they'll be around forever" deals.
Oops.

Hijack away! This is cause for celebration!! :woohoo:

Totally agree!

I admit it would have been easier with the links, but I mainly skimmed through the chat and just read the updates. I have had a lot of time on my hands in the past couple weeks since I had hernia surgery on the 8th, so I am out of work until Feb 8th.

Well, given the state of the poor (literally) Canadian dollar and my new found esteem for Manitoba due to some of the people that reside there, I got to thinking that maybe after all I should look into the possibility of being dragged by DH to Churchill to see the polar bears, and vacation at "home" in Canada. Hmmmm, drive from Alberta to Thompson, and then pay close to $3000 to fly into Churchill? Well, the good news is that it makes Disney almost seem like a bargain! Plus, no polar bears in August anyways.

Hmmm... okay let's start with travel.
I haven't lived there for about 15 years,
so you'd have to check on the state of the rail line first.
I'd call Via just to make sure.
But, assuming all is well...
Take the train from Thompson to Churchill.
You can actually go there and back in a day.
It leaves Thompson at 5pm arrives Churchill 9am.
Leaves Churchill 7:30pm arrives Thompson 11:30am
(Travels at night, both legs)
Total cost, tax incl. $157.50 per person.

Bears are a surer bet in September - October until ice freeze up.
Once the Bay freezes the bears are gone.
But you do have a chance of seeing them in August... the later the better.
But if you're stuck going in summer, I'd highly recommend mid-late July.
Early July is still coldish.
Mid - late July is prime Beluga whale watching time.
Combine that with a little side trip to Fort Prince of Wales
and you've got a nice little excursion.
After July, the whales' behaviour changes and they tend to shy
away from human contact.

Eat at Gypsy's. It's where all the locals go.
Haven't been there as I said, but at the time
Lazy Bear Café had awesome milkshakes.

Where to stay... you're on your own.
Too many years gone by. Don't expect 5star accommodations though.

Visit the Eskimo Museum, drop in on the Arctic Trading Company.
(Ask if Penny still runs the place.)

Tough slogging!
I think I have 4 TRs to fix with a bunch of links on each...
And so far I've fixed.... one link.

Oh, no! I didn't know that.
How are you feeling?
Well, I hope. You only have about a week to go.

I'm doing pretty good. The first week and a half there was a LOT of discomfort. It made me wonder why I agreed to have it in the first place, but I am much better now. I am on the edge of being ready to go back now but I am taking the extra week since the doc recommended 4 weeks. Besides, I am a home health nurse so I never know what I'll run into on any given day. It's a lot of driving (sometimes as much as 40-50 miles one way to see one person), in and out of the car, up and down stairs, up and down from the floor, bending, lifting, etc.

Haha, can't tell hubby that - that just seems too reasonable! Actually, I suspect he's more of a princess than I am, and won't tolerate economy class overnight. Sleeper cabin for 2 is the bargain price of about $1500. :sad2:

Well, you could walk... might be a bit of a trek.... :rolleyes1

Note to self - do not marry a school teacher. D'oh - too late!

Noted. DH now feels that the majority of wildlife viewing in early August is going to be of the large mosquito variety. Hey, just trying to prove that I am willing to branch out from Disney. Not my fault that the polar bears aren't as accommodating for a teacher schedule. :teeth:

You can see them year round... if you know where to look.
And it'll cost ya.

Helicopter tours ain't cheap.
I wouldn't recommend those anyway.
Can't get close.

Mosquitoes weren't really problem up there.
Either too windy, season too short, whatever.

Glad to hear you're on the mend!

Take the time. No sense in rushing and hurting yourself.

And the lifting and more lifting... oh, and maybe some lifting....

Yeah. Take your time.

Just checking in before flying down to The World tomorrow morning. Neener, neener, neener!

I was somewhat astounded to see my name with 8 points, since I don't remember making any guesses. Oh, well. :)

Gotta go pack - some guy from the state called me yesterday for a job interview and I told him not next week- I'm going to Disney! So I met with him today and it went well, although it did interfere with getting ready for my trip. I am not ready to give up my life of leisure but hey, it's a government job. (Fill in your own punchline here.)

I have not forgotten the pawprints!

Ever been so exhausted you can't see straight?
25 shifts in last 24 days.
7 more to go, then...
Oh heck. Too tired to get into it.

But had to... Had to! wish @MHSweb79 a good trip!
Have fun in da World!!
