Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Ditch 'em!
I'm a better date!

I don't need to waste time eating so she doesn't have to ditch me. She can ditch everyone else though.

ha%20ha_zpsg4qr9czu.jpg

So can I have bonus points since you took my birthday present and then laughed about it????

Nope... it's too perilous

Besides, I've got the map and I ain't planning on sharing
(and for good measure, I'm making sure that Zoot is kept quite busy so no one will be illuminating the grail shaped beacon either.)

DANG IT!!!!!!!!!

Oh. And how exactly do you plan to keep Zoot busy?

YAY to the Maui trip report!!!

Don't celebrate too early.
You haven't read it yet.

"I cheered for this steaming pile of crap?!?!?"

You know you're not going to be able to go anywhere without writing about it anymore.

Update! 11/12 Expedition angst!

So when we last left off, I had made a sandwich in the kitchen
and was heading for the bedroom to chill and watch some MASH reruns.

I took three, maybe four steps when I stopped dead in my tracks.
OMG! I forgot to get a glass of milk!
You can't eat a sandwich without milk!
Oh, sure. You can get away with it if it's a Club,
or even a BLT.
But PB&J? Heck no! You gotta have milk!

Now I knew I was in trouble.
If I continued into the bedroom and put my sandwich
on the bedside table and then returned empty-handed
to the kitchen, almost certainly the dog would grab it
and I'd be one sandwich short of a meal.
I could retrace my steps, but that would show
weakness to the dog.

"Woof! Yap! Bark! Bark!*"
(* Don't be a wuss. Put the sammie down.
I won't touch it. Trrrrrrust me.)

But I could see it in her eyes.
She wanted the sandwich.
Of course she always wants food,
so it was no great leap to figure that out.

We stood frozen, facing each other,
neither daring to move.

Her gaze shifted from my eyes...
to the sandwich.
She was daring me.
You could hear her thoughts.
"Well punk? What are you going to do?"

Contest!
1. Does the dog eat my sandwich?
2. How much of MASH do I miss?
3. Do I spill my milk and if so, do I cry?

Yep. Riveting stuff.

Some days yes, but on that particular day yours was the best.

Well, that's just nuts.
But I'm glad to be of service.

More compliments! I'm on a roll :)

I immediately thought of an answer to that.
And wow! Was it dirty!

So you should be able to figure it out from that.
And when you do... I apologize from the bottom of my heart.
And I'm totally kidding about it!!

Keep trying but you probably won't succeed.

See above snippet re: the sandwich.

Much cheaper but probably not as much fun to write about.

Plus how do you write when you're hands are shaking
from an overdose of caffeine?

That's on my list but my courage to ride it keeps shrinking. I wouldn't have thought twice about it 10 years ago. Now I can't even stand on the glass floor on the CN Tower even though kids lie down on it. I've turned into a wuss.

Okay. Next time you go, I'll hold your hand...
And take you out on the Edge Walk.

I love coasters like Millennium Force. I've been on a few at other parks, really fast and smooth. I like those much better than anything that spins or goes upside down.

But it goes upside down?
You mean like suspended upside down for more than a second?
i.e. you don't mind a coaster loop?

Too bad it's lost. Did you save a copy? You could just repost it. (Do it, repost it!!!)
Did you have as much fun as the Griswolds did?

Oh! It's not lost.
You can still access it through my siggie.
It's just the chapter links in the second post don't work,
so you can't just skip to the individual chapters.

Oh well there's your problem. You can't just expect to bend over! Does that happen often?

It does! Every time I tie my shoes, I bend over.

I LOVE all of that glass!!! We spent about 6 hours walking in and out of every store on our way from the train station to St. Mark's Square one time.

Okay. Now I really wish we'd gone together.
I was able to drag my family into only one
or two glass stores.

I would buy so much of it if it wasn't for having to pack it. I ended up with a cool necklace that was apparently a mistake. They take long tubes of glass with patterns then cut them in cross section and make beads out of them. This one had all the glass patterns sort of melted so the colors smeared and made it look much more interesting. It took all day to find (since I had no idea what I was looking for until I saw it) and was different than all the others.

We really do think alike.
(Well, not about lemons, but about glass at least.)
And I like the sound of your necklace.
Pic, please?

I almost bought a black glass vase.
It was over $1,000 but I didn't care.

I was going to see what Murano had to offer before deciding...

And then I got hurt so that was that.

You still have time to try again.

I'm hoping to, actually.
We'll see.

Does it pay well?

Very.

Only if he'll give me extra points

That's not up to you.

Let's word that a little differently. Share a brain would imply we only have half each.... wait.... most of the things I write here would support that theory....

You'll notice how I'm staying completely out of this.
You've noticed, right?

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to not comment on that?
Do you?

I don't need to waste time eating so she doesn't have to ditch me. She can ditch everyone else though.

Sure! We can make it a thr... uh...
We can tour the parks together!

(Close one.)

So can I have bonus points since you took my birthday present and then laughed about it????

Yes.
And I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.

10 pages later, I'm back and hopefully not too late for guesses.

First of all, only you are gracious and kind enough of a TR host to wait long enough, in your extreme benevolence, for letting me pass my exam before posting another update. Which of course, will surpass all other TRs on the DIS in entertainment factor, style, and charm.

Onto some guesses:

1. Obvious one. Which park are we heading out to next? DHS

2. Remember we have to be at the lobby for check out at 2:45am.
So... Is the next park our last of the day? Or not?
Number of parks done this last day, 2, 3 or 4? No, 3

3. I experience yet another first time snack.
And it's another fairly common one.
(I had to. I promised I would.) What is it? Pretzel

4. Oh, take a wild guess on what time we leave the parks for the night.
And just to make things extra easy for you...
(in order of lateness open)
MK open til 11, DHS open til 9:30, Epcot open til 9, AK open til 5

11:15- closing down MK

5. We've been lucky with the weather... so far.
So, do you feel we stay lucky?

Yes.

6. What do you think? We've done one ADR today already.
Do we have a dinner ADR?

No.

Found this TR last night and caught up today, and have really enjoyed reading about your trip.

I didn't keep track enough to comment on everything but I will say that it's funny you kept running into people from NJ, I'm originally from Philadelphia and half of NJ can be considered "A small town just outside of Philadelphia", LOL

I do remember Nebo from seeing comments on other TR's but I don't think I ever read any of his.

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip, so sad to see it coming to an end soon.

So a few people have asked, but I want a consensus from the group.

.

Show of hands if you really want this.
I'm not promising anything.... but I'll at least think about it
if there's enough interest.

th

we can all bring cookies! (see I remembered that too) lol

You want a Banff TR too??????

:faint:
uuummmm should we give ponzie a break? should we let him abandon his harem? have some rest catch his breath? should we be understanding and think of someone other than ourselves I mean ponzie has been such a great host. shouldn't we cut him some slack? NNNAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

ok I think you miss 15 minutes of mash and choose to share your sammie because of those cute puppy dog eyes, and you spill a bit of your milk and snivel a bit but not really cry per say

10 pages later, I'm back and hopefully not too late for guesses.

Of course not. Right on time.
I presume "punctuality" is one of your many, many middle names?

First of all, only you are gracious and kind enough of a TR host to wait long enough, in your extreme benevolence, for letting me pass my exam before posting another update. Which of course, will surpass all other TRs on the DIS in entertainment factor, style, and charm.

You forgot "panache". But I'll let it slide.

Found this TR last night and caught up today, and have really enjoyed reading about your trip.

First of all... :welcome: to the TR!
Thanks for joining our little party of frivolity and mayhem!

I didn't keep track enough to comment on everything

Well then go back and start commenting.
Every other line will do for now.
Go ahead. I'll wait.

No?

Smart girl. You'll fit right in here.

but I will say that it's funny you kept running into people from NJ, I'm originally from Philadelphia and half of NJ can be considered "A small town just outside of Philadelphia", LOL

So you're saying only half of NJ was in Disney that week.
Ah.
I'm relieved. I was really worried who was feeding the pets.

I do remember Nebo from seeing comments on other TR's but I don't think I ever read any of his.

It was some great stuff.
A real shame that he can't write anymore.

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip, so sad to see it coming to an end soon.

A bit more to come, but not much!
But apparently, I'm writing a TR on our trip to Maui next month,
so there won't be much down time between updates!

I'm doing it! I'm doing it!!!

we can all bring cookies! (see I remembered that too) lol

Wow. That goes wayyyyy back!
You just earned yourself some bonus points there lady.

uuummmm should we give ponzie a break? should we let him abandon his harem? have some rest catch his breath? should we be understanding and think of someone other than ourselves I mean ponzie has been such a great host. shouldn't we cut him some slack?

Thank goodness! Somebody gets it! Someone understands. Somebody...

NNNAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

...oh.

ok I think you miss 15 minutes of mash and choose to share your sammie because of those cute puppy dog eyes, and you spill a bit of your milk and snivel a bit but not really cry per say

Hmmm... partially correct.
We don't give the dog anything (well... pretty much)
since she has a wobbly tummy.

So. Yes I do miss 15 minutes of MASH.
I don't share the sammie with her (see above) but...
She bumps my leg which makes me spill the milk.
I cry like a baby because I just want to eat my sandwich!!
And when I go to get some towels,
she scarfs down the sandwich.

Describe some.
Well...
I sent her out for fresh milk so I didn't have to miss any of the MASH marathon of loose the sandwich to the dog.
As for any additional details...

This here board just ain't the place for such elaboration.

Yep. Riveting stuff.

First off you revealed quite a bit about yourself in this little vignette and secondly you also revealed that you could write a TR about just about anything and we would totally read it. Heck! I want a TR about your next trip to the grocery store!

First off you revealed quite a bit about yourself in this little vignette

So... No more calling myself an International Man of Mystery?

and secondly you also revealed that you could write a TR about just about anything and we would totally read it. Heck! I want a TR about your next trip to the grocery store!

OMG! You would not believe what happened to me today there!!!!

So only 3 of you knew the reference about the finger on the hot grill.
Completely different from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Can you imagine Nebo on a hot tin roof? Me neither. No question Smidgy has vetoed ladders. Though I could see him crawling out a second floor window to, I don't know, rescue a baby bird or maybe sunbathe? The result of either of those things would doubtless be bad for Nebo. The baby bird would turn out to be a really cranky squirrel and the sunburn would be all in places where the sun doesn't usually shine...

I miss that guy!

I'm a little shocked... and humbled too,
that so many of you have joined me in
this little adventure.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Aw, sweet. :charac2:

Can we get to the report now? Sheesh.

Am I not gracious?
Of course I am.
Tell me how gracious I am and get free bonus points.

You come in at number 2974 on the graciousness scale. 2974 may not sound terribly gracious, but all the people in front of you on the list are living saints, organ donors, professional hostpersons and of course Disney cast members. Not too shabby, eh?

You can try one if you like.
But I guarantee we already said it.

What about--no, you said that.
I got one!! No, you said that, too!
Never mind.

Hoooooey! That sucker is fun!
Might just be one of the best rides in Epcot.

When the ride was over, we caught our collective breaths,
collected our belongings and headed out for our FP.
You know it's a good ride when you excitedly talk about it afterward.
Which we did.

I looked at that thing and was silently relieved when DS said "maybe later, the line is too long." I made sure to never mention it again. It looks way too swoopy and nausea-inducing to me. I'm definitely a moderate thrillseeker. RockNRollercoaster is about as daring as I get!

For all you Via Napoli fanatics...
prepare to be disappointed.
I did enjoy the pizza and, if memory serves,
(it seldom does) Kay did too.
But.
Was it amazing? No.
You want amazing? Try Chicago.
Or heck, come to Winnipeg.
This was good, don't get me wrong,
but it wasn't as good as I thought it might be.

We haven't tried it, and I gotta admit I've never thought the pizzas looked all that great. Too much crust (often scorched--what's up with that?) and not enough toppings for me! I'll probably try it someday just because DS is a pizzaholic.

We got our bill (and when I say "we" and "our", I mean "I" and "my")
and I noticed that we weren't charged extra for the Limonata.
Either they forgot, or someone pointed out that it actually was included.
I suspect the latter.

I've read more than a few trip reports that said the same thing. I'm not sure the staff at Via Napoli is all on the same page when it comes to dining plan issues!

Again?!?!?!?!?
I talk to three random strangers,
on three separate days.
And they're all from "A small town in Jersey, just outside Philadelphia"???

Clearly this was some sort of secret code, and you blew the whole thing by not replying "the boiled ham is best eaten at midnight in July" or "princesses are the shizz" or whatever the phrase of the day is. Too bad. I heard they were handing out some nice prizes to people who got it right--3 nights in the castle suite at MK, private late evening meet and greets with Ariel, stuff like that... :rolleyes1

Oh, these are HARD. Dayyum. Alright, last day, you wanna go out big...

1. DHS
2. 3
3. Churros
4. 11:30
5. I'm saying lucky. Maybe some rain but it falls while you're inside, maybe having dinner.
6. Yes. Thank you for not asking where, because :confused3

Man, you really nailed that.
I can totally see all of that happening!

I miss that guy!

Me too!

Aw, sweet. :charac2:

Can we get to the report now? Sheesh.

 Okay! Okay!

I suppose.
I totally get being behind organ donors, hostpersons and CMs... but saints?
I thought I had a shot there.

What about--no, you said that.
I got one!! No, you said that, too!
Never mind.

See? Toldja.

I looked at that thing and was silently relieved when DS said "maybe later, the line is too long." I made sure to never mention it again. It looks way too swoopy and nausea-inducing to me. I'm definitely a moderate thrillseeker. RockNRollercoaster is about as daring as I get!

Far be it from me to tell someone who doesn't want to go, to go.
But I feel sick on MS Orange... but didn't feel a thing on this.
I kind of equate it to RNRC, actually.

We haven't tried it, and I gotta admit I've never thought the pizzas looked all that great. Too much crust (often scorched--what's up with that?) and not enough toppings for me! I'll probably try it someday just because DS is a pizzaholic.

Actually the scorched crust is considered a must by some pizza pros.
It shows that it was cooked in a wood fired oven, I think.
I've seen that mentioned on a few shows.

I've read more than a few trip reports that said the same thing. I'm not sure the staff at Via Napoli is all on the same page when it comes to dining plan issues!

Oh really?
Huh. And I would've bet that it doesn't usually happen.

Clearly this was some sort of secret code, and you blew the whole thing by not replying "the boiled ham is best eaten at midnight in July" or "princesses are the shizz" or whatever the phrase of the day is. Too bad.

Wait. If you don't know. Then how was I supposed to know?
And why wasn't the reply "I'm from Canada"?

I heard they were handing out some nice prizes to people who got it right

Oh? Like what?

3 nights in the castle suite at MK,

That would've been nice.
But then we'd have to pack up and move again.

I hate that.

private late evening meet and greets with Ariel, stuff like that...
