Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Just wanted to say a proper hello.

Allo, allo!

Sorry I haven't been around much. No excuse really just tired a lot.

Believe me... that's an excellent excuse.

Last month I went to Columbus with my BFF and her two kids. Met up with a couple and their four kids and went to the zoo. Now for someone like me that has no kids this was a lot.

I get that. I really do.

Then her husband met up with us and we all went out to eat. It was a long day! And didn't get much sleep that night because her husband snores so loud and all night long!!!

 Oh, no!

"No, that's okay. I'll just get a hotel room."
"You don't have to do that... you can stay with us!"
"No, really. Really... it's okay. A hotel is fine."

Just got done dog, cat, house sitting for a week. They went to Norway. Me, I'm fine with seeing it in Epcot!

Interesting. I'd rather go to Norway.

I'm jealous you're getting back to WDW and a cruise to boot!

Not a done deal yet. But I'm hoping!

I thought you were going to take me next time! But no, you have to take your wife!

There's a good reason... she threatened me.

So it's like you'll be there, right?

Have you tried grapefruit beer? They have it in Germany in EPCOT.

:sail: WHAT'S THIS?! I think I may just have found my replacement, and mo' bettah "G" drink for my Alphabetical Approach to Drinking Around the World. I WAS going to get a Grey Goose Slushie, but perhaps this Ginger Beer is my better (and cheaper) choice. Thanks, @natebenma !!!

Hmmm... Well, in that case...
Maybe I'll give it a try if the opportunity presents itself.

Please do, then let me know!

I'm having a wicked case of deja vu right now.

1. ARE YOU CRAZY??
GGS is the best thing ever!! And you want to switch it...
for beer?!?!?

2. And how did you go from grapefruit beer to ginger beer?

(Pssst.... someone's a little excited.)

Please do, then let me know!

Wait. So now I have to do N and G???

Well... I just might! So there!

That's your old eyes.

I did like my GGS, HOWEVER, it was WAY overpriced for the amount of ETOH in it. Seriously, I think there was probably 1/2 teaspoon in there total.

And here in my take on Grapefruit beer: (this was actually a topic of conversation last night after my BIL brought it over...)

Grapefruit beer is to beer coolers as wine coolers are to wine. They make it palatable for the A) uninitiated and/or B) wusses of the beer world. I used to like wine coolers once upon a time when I was young and stupid. Now, I'd MUCH prefer a single glass of dark red, full bodied snobbish wine over 4 Mike's because taste trumps quantity any day (do NOT judge that last statement over my latest schemings for my trip.) So, all that said, this new thing to me: grapefruit beer is probably (hopefully, actually) my gateway beer, so I can be like all grown ups (excluding you) and actually enjoy a beer here and there. Then again, it still may taste like crap a year from now too.

2. And how did you go from grapefruit beer to ginger beer?

No. Exhausted. I drove to Portland (again) today to meet a friend for lunch before picking up Anara who was up in Olympia with my SIL and family since Wedneday. (I did not miss the sass.) Just as we pulled into the Freeway-side $tarbucks to meet up, the traffic on the Freeway (visible from where I was sitting) came to a COMPLETE stop. And it remained that way for an hour. Even when we left, it still took us 30 minutes to go 2 miles up to the crash. Then, when we approached Salem I-5 was again closed due to what I assume was a fatal crash as they were diverting traffic off the Interstate going the other way. I, in my idiocy, made a wrong turn when I pulled over to look at directions to where I was dropping Anara off for a party, and ended up in that diversion mess. ANOTHER half hour wasted of my precious day. I swear that is the LAST time I'm going up to Portland before my trip. Only 11 weeks. I like my sleepy (relatively) little town of Salem... :sigh: There. Not a little excited; a lot just tired from being in the car all day and more than a little hacked off at Alaska Airlines... but you'll have to read about that on my thread...

Wait. So now I have to do N and G???

Well... I just might! So there!

You realize I have 6 Challenge drinks, right? ;)

I had something called a grapefruit Shandy here at the food truck park. It was really good! I think it must be about the same :confused3

"Excuse me but can I be you for a while "
You don't want to be me! I'd rather be you.

I love this song! I'm surprised and glad that you know it!

So DH said there's a pretty good chance that we'll be going to WDW next year in September. We're going to try and rent points from Alison so we can stay DVC for the first time. And first time in deluxe. Our top four are also the cheapest AK, BW, OKW and SSR. Hope to stay for a full week and go to F&W. Maybe you'll be there too?

I don't drink any beer either. Not a wine lover too. So yeah, I'm not a real adult.

The grapefruit beer is da bomb! They have it at Epcot and at Beaches and Cream :thumbsup2View attachment 180670

Crews Cup Lounge at the Yacht Club, too. Probably also Captain's Grille. Definitely available in EPCOT's Germany, hopefully not just during Food & Wine/Flower & Garden. I haven't had it there.

From Orange Banded Monkeys, Marinated Monkey Meet:

"For my beverage, I ordered a drink recommended in a few trip reports. I wanted to try it from the first time I heard about it, but I haven't found for sale where I live. I learned shortly before my trip that the Crews Cup offered it.

Grapefruit beer. YUM!!! It did not disappoint."

ETA: I have found a version for sale locally- northern Mass and Sam Adams also makes a version

That's your old eyes.

Entirely possible.

I did like my GGS, HOWEVER, it was WAY overpriced for the amount of ETOH in it. Seriously, I think there was probably 1/2 teaspoon in there total.

That's probably why I like it so much.
I prefer fruit taste over alcohol.

 I have serious doubts on whether or not I'll like it.
It didn't make the official to-do list.
So I might just forget about it.

Saw that.

Anara who was up in Olympia with my SIL and family since Wedneday. (I did not miss the sass.)

Reminds me of when our DDs threaten to call
family services for some perceived slight.
We always encourage them to do so.
Darn kids never follow through.

Ouch.

You are really not having the best of days there.

I did. Turned out okay in the end, though.

You realize I have 6 Challenge drinks, right? ;)

:faint:

Oh crap. Just got a text that Luna jumped up and hurt her leg pretty badly.
Apparently screaming/crying.
Ruby and Kay are taking her to the emergency vet clinic.

Oh no!!! Let's hope it's easily dealt with and there's no lasting effects!

I'm pretty upset right now.
She just jumped and landed awkwardly.
Left hind leg dislocated growth plate.
Won't know until tomorrow if it requires surgery
or might heal on its own.
Right now she can't put any weight on it.
Awwww, poor little one. That had to have been terribly painful. :( I hope they gave her some nice pain meds to get her through it.
