Peek-a-boo.
A few of you were foolish enough to ask me
to write about Ruby's and my quick trip to Montreal.
Redundancy is my middle name.
So is redundancy.
Ruby hates travelling alone.
So she usually asks me to go with her.
And I am usually more than happy to oblige.
It's pretty much a win, win, win, win situation.
Win #1. We get to travel to places for
1/2 the airfare and no cost accommodation.
Win #2. I go, so she's happy.
Win #3. She works during the day,
so I do whatever I want.
Win #4. After work, we do whatever she wants.
I didn't know it at the time,
but there was a big fringe benefit to that.
Fair warning!
I didn't take any notes this time.
I wasn't sure if I was even going to write this
and I just didn't feel like it.
So be prepared for a certain.... sparseness
with the details.
Oh... wait....
Sorry.
Like I said.
I didn't take notes.
That didn't actually happen, now that I think of it.
You know. I could never work airport security.
At least not the person who looks at the X-rays.
There's no way I could keep my mouth shut.
"I read that book. It's really good!
Who'd have guessed the butler did it?!?"
"Is there a reason you have fur covered handcuffs ma'am?"
"Do stool softeners really work?"
"How much does a whip like that cost?"
"Good luck with those hemorrhoids!"
I find the restroom and ...
there's a wait?
What?
I'm a dude.
I don't wait for restrooms!
That may not have been the right picture.
Or it might have.
Who knows.
No notes.
But just once... Once!
I'd like my bag to be first.
I would grab it and smugly look at everyone else
with their vaguely panicked expressions
("Did my bag make it???")
as I march off in triumph.
You know you want to do that.
Yes. Yes you do.
Oh. And everything is in French.
By law.
So there's that, too.
Finding Doris????
(With the voice of Anne Dorval!! (who?))
Sooooo good.
And good for you!
It's got something from each of
the four food groups.
Fries, gravy, cheese curds and a wiener.
What more could you possibly want???
One odd note about my drink.
I went to take a sip from the straw...
it's not a straw.
It's a long toothpick or skewer.
Nothing on it. Just a stick.
Odd drink décor.
We only got about half way through it.
Boring!
I guess that explains all the nominations.
"Well, how about a trip to Disney? Just for a few days?
We could check out Universal too. Maybe drive down to the Keys?"
She answers. "Well, you keep coming with me for work..."
Okay...
"So I guess I can go to Disney with you."
Me: "There's a Disney 3 day cruise that leaves on the 16th.
It might be a good way to try it out. See if we like it."
She thought that was a good idea.
So we've gone from zero to HOLY CRAP in 24 hours.
I just have to thank you for keeping me occupied during work for the past week!
I caught up on your TR and I am excited to hear you are coming back to Disney! If you spend any days at the World before your cruise we will have to meet up!
What an epic DISmeet! I wish I was going to be at Epcot on 17/09/16. Probably next year though.
Sorry I haven't been around. Our oldest, Jack, got an pneumonia and was in the hospital and then we travelled for the holiday. It was a hard two weeks.
I'm here now and boy oh boy I have missed so much!
I'm so excited for your next Disney trip. It's funny how we've been planning and anticipating our next Disney trip for 2 1/2 years and you can just throw an idea out there and BAM it sticks and you're going. I love that spontaneity.
It's too bad you're not going in November.
Can't wait to read more about Montreal!
Peek-a-boo.
Aw, come on! Now who went and did that?
Do you work for the Department of Redundancy Department?
Well, sure. You and the wife traveling alone, no one to bother you...
A chance to get some sleep!
No problem! I never take notes. You can always just make the details up later.
See? Makes it entertaining.
Ah, taking the sea route across Canada. Gutsy.
They're not catering to me?? Forget it, I'm not going.
Sounds like a winner! The perfect meal!
Except--no bacon.![]()
Maybe it's a state fair item. Cocktail on a stick.
Pretty much. And yet Die Hard was completely ignored.![]()
Take this and run with it! Don't look back!
We have just met you and we love you.
I'm hoping this can happen.
Still waiting on one niggling detail
before I pull the trigger.
I should know by Sunday, I think.
Parasailing maybe.
But I think Ruby's snorkeling days are behind her.
I'll have to look into it more.
I'm still very much playing catch up but.....I have Epcot scheduled on the 17th!!![]()
Thanks for writing about Montreal.
Sounds like a pretty decent start to your trip.
Pretty funny about Trouver Doris!
The hotdog poutine looks interesting.
I would be a total sucker for your grapefruit flavored drink. Have you tried grapefruit beer? They have it in Germany in EPCOT.
I think I mentioned to you that my husband and I had a two part honeymoon (30 years ago this month...).
We were young, early twenties, and American and we had dinner one night at the fancy schmancy La Meridien where we were staying. I overheard our waiter make a disparaging remark in French about us to another waiter. When he came back to our table, I made a comment to Mark in French and the waiter turned beet red.
I'm excited to read that you may have a September cruise/vacation in the works. I hope that works out for you!
I can't wait to hear about this, I hope you will give us some details!
My two oldest kids did the parasailing at Castaway Cay and we're just a tad disappointed. $95 each for 10-15 min in the air, not such a good return on investment.
SO totally bummed I'll miss this epic DISmeet by 12 days![]()
$95?? Per person???
Yeah... okay, so that's not gonna happen.
Been there done that.
Honestly, I think we'd probably just enjoy relaxing,
wandering about and seeing what's what.
Still... crap.
Yep, per person![]()
There's lots of other stuff to do, you would probably like the adults only beach, quiet, has it's own bar I think.
We didnt make it there because we had the youngest with us. We had a great time just chillin on the beach and playing in the water. Plus you can access the ship anytime during the day to watch a movie or nap...
(Noticed you still haven't found the hidden camera...)
I'm not a beer drinker,
much to my (German) Dad's chagrin.
So I'll probably never try it.
Honestly, I think we'd probably just enjoy relaxing,
wandering about and seeing what's what.
I would definitely have lunch at the adult beach, not that I've had lunch at the kid's beach, but overall it seems a lot more calm.
We had fun checking out the shops in the main beach area, but I know you hate shopping.
There are bikes you can ride around the island too.
As one of my kids (when they were 3) said: you Tom Peeper.
I pretty much HATE beer, but my BIL brought some local grapefruit beer over the other night, and I actually enjoyed it. Seriously, surprised the heck out of me. You might like it....
