Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Well, looky there. I'd say the "great minds" thing, but we de-bunked that claim a while ago.

Unfortunately... yep.

I've heard that blind squirrels find a nut once in a while.

But do they wash them?

That would have been epic!:rotfl2:

I know!
Wasted opportunity.
Should've harangued them.

So did I! :rotfl:

See, here's the thing. I had been to Hamoa beach back when I was young. I remember body-surfing much of the day away and being overwhelmed with the beauty of the place. I loved being at a beach carved out of the cliffs. Like you said, it screams Hawaii.

So, when I visited Maui again years later with my family in tow, I knew I wanted to take them there. And so I pulled up to a beach south of Hana, framed by a big rocky cliff. Gorgeous place. Yep, that must be it.

But now, when I look at the photos...I think we have photos of Koki Beach.:rotfl2:

I guess we need to return!

I took another look and.... Yep.
Pretty sure that's Koki beach! :lmao:

Sure! But we'd paid for the 2-park pass that got us into Haleakala and Volcanoes so we were getting our money's worth out of it.

Ah.
Well, would it have been worth it on its own?

Blind squirrel?

Well, I am near sighted.

Too late.

I totally agree.

Great minds...or something.

Or something.

I wish my DH believed his wife shouldn't cook while on vacation!:sad1:

Easily done.
"Honey. We're going on vacation. You can cook."
"I don't want to cook while I'm on vacation."
"Well, we can't go if we go out every day!"
"You're right. But since I do the cooking at home,
I'll let you do it while we're on vacation!"

I found this incredibly interesting and useful. I never knew you could rent a cooler for a day. It seems so practical.

Don't know if you can do that everywhere,
but on Maui you can!

Kay thought so.

You couldn't.

You are correct.

I'm sure it would tear up someone. It is very interesting though.

Never thought of that.
But you're right. It would.

ouch.

I would agree...
except we got lucky and found the lower falls.

It is amazing. The rest of your waterfall pictures are even more beautiful!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Worth it for you (hint, hint). I would have been scared to death.

Just keep your eyes closed
until you get to something interesting.

Unless you're driving.
Then... don't.

(And... noted.)

You have a flair for understatement!

Only a guy would say that!:sad2:

::yes::

You'll have to show a picture of all her sand on display for us.

Oh! What a great idea!

Poor thing.

She survived.

Scarred...

But she survived.

1. Volcano
2. Shaved Ice
3. 3
4. I'll have to rethink flying with you. Sorry. Can I get a refund?
5. Donald
6. Krispie Kreme
7. Ruby
8. Kay
9. Early. 18 minutes
10. Shovel!

Noted.

Ooohhhh. I love picnics!

Me too!

Just not the work that goes along with them.

A waterfall with no water? Is that more or less exciting than the backside of water?

Well, we didn't get there,
so I couldn't say for sure.

But if I had to guess...

Less.

Um. You should have warned me about the spider. Not cool man. Not Cool.

Sorry.

At least I didn't say something like:
"It's crawling down your back, now."

That really would've been not cool.

IT WAS WORTH IT!

 Okay!

The streambed crossed the road to get to the other side?

Reasonable. And... a classic.

A FULL MOON IN DAYLIGHT! What a treat!

We (well... except for Elle) thought so!

Okay. A big busy stretch coming up at work, so I fear that I won't be back for a while and will likely miss the last update. Which means that it is very important that I get all these questions incorrect as usual so it won't matter if I miss the last one!

Uh, oh. Hopefully we'll see you before the end.

1. I thought you only said one real excursion!?! You lied. I think we all deserve free points for this! (Plus, I have no idea. Another beach?)
2. More spam. The answer is always more spam.
3. Three
4. Yes? I don't know.
5. Nope.
6. Shaved Ice.
7. Kay
8. Ruby
9. It'll be late. 30 minutes.
10. Go to work.

Noted.

And.... only one "paid" excursion.
Or One excursion and several jaunts.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen that option before! Sure beats buying a cheap styrofoam one and tossing it later, just to have it end up in a landfill for the next gazillion years.

It's probably not widely available.
But, yeah.
I don't think I could bring myself
to buying a cheap cooler
and then throwing it out.

Raises hand. I used to be fine with them, but somehow as I got older, they got to be not so much fun.

Too bad.
The views on that road were amazing.

But the scenery does seem like it would be awfully tempting. Especially if someone else was driving - not me! I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the scenery if I was driving!

You can do that!
Lots of companies offer guided tours
in a mini motor coach or van.

(Or if I did, we'd all end up dead!)

Probably not a fun option.

Note that they advertise the ROAD to Hana. But not Hana. Got it.

See?
Precisely my point.

Tough one. Lots of other beaches, too. But, yeah, worth it.

I thought so too.

My ds is like that. Makes traveling with him tough.

Too bad.
But I think a lot of boys would fall
into that category.

Those are pretty cool! I really only noticed them on my second read, on the computer, especially since the first time, I was still too busy laughing about poor Elle and the full moon!

 I'm glad it was so funny
as to be distracting!

Apparently Pkondz's pilots knew.

Oh, sure.
They may be drunkards,
but they're (semi) smart drunkards.

Hmm... my last chance to regain the lead? Oh, my...
1. Volcano?
2. Shave ice!
3. Two!
4. Of course I saw Donald! (On the second reading - I never spot any of them on my phone!)
5. That one, too!
6. The shave ice place!
7. Pkondz. That suspicious shave ice stain...
8. Elle
9. Late - by 30 minutes
10. Shovel snow

Noted.

Read the update, but commenting will have to wait until Thursday. Is that too late to get my answers in?

Have a big day at school tomorrow in my LAST SIM- The Heavens may open and the angels sing when that is over. I know I will be singing and it may be loud and joyful enough for you to hear it in Winnipeg. Let me know if you hear happy songs or wailing.

Local: I completely and wholly understand
the currents and tides and will only venture out
to a certain safe distance.
Tourist: Look Mable! The locals are in.
Must be safe!
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Well, I was thinking more along the lines of idiot locals. But yeah... I could see this scenario playing out too!

Is this new to you?
Someone else mentioned it.
I didn't think too much of it since I've seen it
fairly often.
Hmmm... I don't know. I've probably seen it before and forgot about it. Either way, cool idea.

Here's the scoop.
We didn't notice the sand temp
since we were wearing flip flops
right up until we went in the water.
And put them on again afterwards.

But...

About 20 years ago, when Ruby & I
went to the Big Island,
we visited a black sand beach, there.
We took off our shoes....

Holy mother of God!
I've never felt such hot sand!
It was like walking on hot coals.

So... yeah.
Black sand is hotter I think.
It would make sense. That was my assumption anyway, but you know what happens when you assume... :rolleyes1

You're too late.
This line's already been used.
As it should have been. Honestly, so far behind I don't have time to read all the in between chatter, but as I was typing it, I pretty much assumed @Captain_Oblivious had said something along those lines without even looking.

Meh. What does he know.
He apparently knows a thing or 2 about beef and pineapples.

No kidding.
I expected him to tack on maybe another $50 or $100 tops.
I just can't even fathom them saying it with a straight face. I don't know how much the room was, but I'd have to assume they're basically asking you to essentially pay for an extra night or more just for a few more hours!

Read the update, but commenting will have to wait until Thursday. Is that too late to get my answers in?

You're good.
I haven't even started to think about the next update.

Have a big day at school tomorrow in my LAST SIM- The Heavens may open and the angels sing when that is over. I know I will be singing and it may be loud and joyful enough for you to hear it in Winnipeg. Let me know if you hear happy songs or wailing.

I'll keep an ear out.
If the dogs start howling,
then I'll know for sure.

Hmmm... I don't know. I've probably seen it before and forgot about it. Either way, cool idea.

I like it better when I'm far from home.
More likelihood that I'll be the first pin there.

It would make sense. That was my assumption anyway, but you know what happens when you assume... :rolleyes1

Nope. Can you tell me?

As it should have been. Honestly, so far behind I don't have time to read all the in between chatter, but as I was typing it, I pretty much assumed @Captain_Oblivious had said something along those lines without even looking.

 Get your sad excuses for humour in fast, folks!

He apparently knows a thing or 2 about beef and pineapples.

I will (grudgingly) give him that one.

I just can't even fathom them saying it with a straight face. I don't know how much the room was, but I'd have to assume they're basically asking you to essentially pay for an extra night or more just for a few more hours!

It literally would've been cheaper
to book an entire extra night's stay.

Actually, I use that line a lot...
except I leave out the "and me" part.
I wait, and there's a good chance
the person I'm saying it to will say "and me"

And I agree with them.

Console yourself with the thought that you were really close.

You weren't... but if it helps you, than by all means...

tumblr_lzs1lk5li51qkjxrmo2_r1_500.gif

Move to Canada.
Then you would be closer to me, closer to Disney
and your money would be pretty.

Why do I get the sinking feeling
that I would be a distant third
in that scenario?

Well I don't like the idea of layovers on my flight so I guess that bumps being closer to Disney to third so...second ain't bad right?

When I was younger we nearly did move to Canada but my father was offered an ever better job at home so we didn't! :rotfl:

::yes::

"Don't worry, Kay. Once we start moving he'll jump off."

Ten minutes later, lizard is holding on for dear life
onto the windshield wiper as Kay screams for me to stop.

Oh worse and he ended up as lizard sashimi :rolleyes1

You did!
You're on a roll!

or not.

giphy.gif

Not a fan?

Nope nope nope

Are you sure?
Might be fun, you know.

Nope nope nope

Once again, this is the correct response.
You do good with tests, don't you.

But not with guess games apparently :rolleyes2

Listen. I'm a dude.
We don't get 'subtle'
I'm not sure what you're getting at here.
You either do or do not like spiders.

Hard to say for sure.

Oh, okay. I'll try again

tumblr_nz0dpq4aZO1tq4of6o1_500.gif

Because it's too far and too wet to walk.

Darn! :headache:

Wow. Totes harsh.

4vSGoU3.gif

Sober pilots are dull.

Sober anyone is dull ::yes::

Hey! You did say that!
And it was definitely part of the meal!
I'm really going to have to think this over.
Hang on...

Still thinking...

no.

giphy.gif

How shall it put this.
That last round?

You sucked.

Well, you can always change your answers.
I allow that right up to the last second.

....and I'm going to! Other people have make guesses so....I think you will go to see a volcano and that you have to do something snow related

I'm going to try and see if I can track down Lu in September, I'll start by looking in all the bars first, I think :rotfl:

Hey! And yes, good plan! :lmao:

great update and AMAZING pics. still think you need to make some calendars or something. ok so going to put my guesses in and head back to read the couple pages of banter. yes that trek to the beach was totally worth it. I mean really it isn't like you get there every day. so yeah worth it.
thinking the last excursion is shopping, the ladies like the shopping, had another Hawaiian ice for the road so to speak, 3 more beaches, those naughty pkondz pilots dringking wine before flying he he he, not sure about the sugary snack guess I need to re read a chapter or two think it is you that gets picked for pre check, "are you constipated?" and they pat down kay to make sure she didn't bring that lizard home lol and think the flight is late (you know because the pilots have to have their wine first lol) by one hour and when you get home you have to dig your way through the snow to get your car and then dig again when you get to your drive way. )can't even get my head around that kind of snow though)

So now on page 147 so I will comment :P Loving both trip reports! Especially Maui. I got married there 2 years ago on Kaanapali Beach and I can say by day 2 you have hit some great spots. If you ever make it in the water Napili is great for snorkeling. Go to one of the off site scuba shacks and you can rent for the week for only 10 bucks. Best deal I know. Cool Cats other 2 locations are in my hometown, would have given you the heads up to skip. Sorry :worried: If you ever make it back your one excursion has got to be a Trilogy boat tour/scuba anything. They are so worth it.Had to spout my knowledge since your TR is bringing back such amazing memories and are rocking your Maui trip. Keep up the laughs period shorts!

No, the trek down and back up the stairs wasn't worth it! Too much effort
The stream crossed the road to get to the urinal!

"There's no crying in baseball"- or at your first born sons First Communion! haha ;) No tears were shed- on the outside! :)

My husband and I just got back from a quick few day trip to WDW!!! We didn't go to any parks- well, except MK for the After Hours event- SO WORTH IT!! Plus it was 1/2 price since we are DVC members. We just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves! it was great!! and today (12th) is my 30th Birthday!! or should I say 1st anniversary of my 29th!! ;) hahaha

Here are my guesses::
1.ziplining!

2. shave ice

3. 2

4. oh yes, yes I did!

5. you're sneaky with the hidden texts!

6. ugh I can't remember the name!! The first shave ice place you stopped( where mickey said hey in the mirror!)

7. Kay

8. You

9. 10 minutes late

10. laundry

In unrelated news, today I lost one of the cushy, rubber covers for my right earphone, but still wore it on the Metro ride home, and I thought 'Man, this is how pkondz must have felt on RnRC'

Busy. Be assured, I have read your comments.
(And one of you even earned bonus points)
I'll reply as soon as I can.
Busy today/tonight too.
Relplies tomorrow.

I'll have a IRL update soon.
Be forewarned it may be uncomfortable for some of you.
So be it.
