Canadian Buffoon's DISmeet vacation - 09/14 - Bowled Over

I'm here!

Hi!
:welcome: to the TR, Vanessa!

I know I'm late but I'm still trying to get caught up. The trip to Disney in February put me behind.

But you’re here now! :)
How was the trip?

On that note I'm going to pimp the trip report my daughter just started for the trip. It's located here Blended O'HANA: lights, water fountains, and characters OH MY! .

I have a favour to ask.
I for sure won’t be able
to check it out until after
I get back.
But could you remind me?
I’ll be back on the 18th, I believe.

I know you are already following too many reports but it just started and I promise lost of cute pictures.

Sounds great!
Looking forward to it!

Loved you start but you had my heart pumping with the accident. I also want to know what happened?

In about... 2? 3? Updates. :)

You can't leave me hanging even if it's imaginary.

:sad2:
Oh no.
Definitely not imaginary.

Your pictures are so funny. My youngest went to another Anime Con over the Easter weekend and she dressed as Ariel in the blue dress one day. You would have loved it.

Oh!
Photos???

I do have a dessert recipe. It's requested at all family gatherings.

Fruit Salad

Thanks for that! :goodvibes
Can I substitute whipped cream
for the Cool Whip?
Or is there a reason I shouldn’t?

I've only made it trough the first page so I'm going back to read some more.

Good luck!

Good evening!

Hi Donna!

I have returned from the land of Princesses and Pixie Dust in the Southern Isles... um, I mean South East portion of the US.

So???
How was it???

Alas, I did not have the transportation package available for all the bus rides, but I did for a few, and even was upgraded to executive seats on 2 out of 3 flights home.

A few is better than none! :)

Unfortunately I was too concerned about using the air sick bags to avail myself of the free Prosecco or Bailey's in my coffee - I hope to try again in the future.

Oh dear.
I’m sorry to hear that.

You know... you might be
the first person I know
that’s used those.

I got to use one fast pass for FOP - was cool, and I am sure much cooler if one had actually seen the movie Avatar...

It would help...
But I don’t think is required.

Sweet moment - while waiting for Happily Ever After to start, I happened to be standing beside a couple who were getting their picture taken, and they turned out to be Angie's parents - the Angie who is the female singer of Happily Ever After. They were there with her getting a tour, and called her over and I got to meet her and shake her hand :)

No way!
That’s really cool!

Congratulations on not getting the promotion and working harder for less money - good decision!

 Thanks!

Hope Kay continues to improve - I am still trying to learn patience, maybe she will be more successful than I.

She’s doing much better.:)
How are you??

I saw them both this time - see, I'm better with no contest pressure!

And you don’t even
have to prove it!

Well... I live alone and refuse to cook , but I can handle a breakfast recipe!

All right!

I love overnight oats. I mix up about 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt with a chopped apple, a generous helping of walnuts and raisins, and sprinkle it with cinnamon. Pop in about 1/2 cup of steel cut oats and fill the rest up with almond milk and you've got one heck of a delicious breakfast waiting in the fridge for you in the morning! :thumbsup2

Ooohhh. Sounds good!
And healthy too!
How is that possible???

Oh, pkondz, I thought you knew me better than that! My sanity left me years ago...

Oh, I know.
That was for everyone else.

::yes::

;)

Thank goodness. I was beginning to think you forgot how!

This will never happen.

Do let us know how that goes...

Will do!

Nearly spit out my overnight oats on that one

Spat out your food?

Yes.
I have that effect
On women, too.

Yay! Nice Dismeet :thumbsup2

::yes:: It was!

So glad you go to meet up with them. So sorry to hear about Nebo's health though :sad1:

Yeah... :(
Feel for the big lug.

Have a WONDERFUL trip!!! :goodvibes Looking forward to hearing about it! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :)

Ironically, it is my husband who prepares most of our breakfasts (on weekends), during the week it is simple fare.

And yet... on vacations
you are the breakfast queen.

And he doesn't really use recipes, mainly puts together leftovers he finds in the fridge so we have lots of omelettes and frittatas.

That’s actually more impressive.

But since you are looking for recipes, if nobody has posted it yet, I think Tonga Toast would be appropriate for this thread.

Whoa. ::yes::

I think this would be my favorite part of the museum.

Really!
May I ask why?

Thanks for taking us through the museum and for your generous sponsorship!

 You’re welcome!

I enjoyed reading about your two DISmeets that day. It is so fun to meet people in IRL who have become friends on this board or other online arenas. I appreciate the update on smidgy and nebo. They are truly trip report legends. I'll send some positive thoughts their way.

Always love meeting
people who are
“friends I’ve yet to meet”. :)

Have a fantastic trip to DL!!!

:dogdance:

Thanks!

Tonga Toast

:faint:
Not at all decadent!
Have you ever made it?

I do! There are just a few casseroles and other recipes I used to make that call for a can of condensed soup, and I don't like to live without my faves, so I found a work-around. It's pretty easy, and the taste is pretty similar. :)

Wow!
I’m impressed!

::yes:: I also had a few excellent nurses, so I really didn't care if the surgeon concerned himself with my feelings.

Good point.
And really...
it’s the nurses that
you’re going to see more of.

It's a magical place! I'm good friends with Yogi and Boo Boo now. Ranger Smith's a jerk though.

Geez. Let ‘em have a
picnic basket once in their lives!

Okay...
That’s enough fighting
with the DIS on my
phone for one night.

Really!
May I ask why?

Because it is art I can understand.

Although I know the motorcycles on display are their own works of art and craftsmanship, they would all start to look the same to me. Kind of the same thing I experienced when we went to the Udvar-Hazy Air Museum (part of the Smithsonian) near Dulles Airport. It was an impressive display of some pretty incredible airplanes, but it really was a bit of overload. The boys loved it, though!

Always love meeting
people who are
“friends I’ve yet to meet”. :)

So many possibilities!

The DIS and social media make it possible to become true friends to people who, as you say, we have yet to meet.

:faint:
Not at all decadent!
Have you ever made it?

I am not a big fan. Too sweet for me, I prefer savory for breakfast. My favorite from Kona Café is the Macadamia-Freaking-Pineapple Pancakes.

But every year I convince myself that I will make it for my son Nate on his birthday.

So far it hasn't happened.

Maybe for his 20th. Check back with me on July 5.

:rotfl2:

It sure sounds like a busy day.

Not that bad, actually!
Easy compared to
the day before.
Lots of down time
which made it a really
nice day. :)

I think the motorcycle pictures were actually interesting. I would have never believed the first motorcycle looked so much like a real bike.

I know, right?
I guess that’s where
the idea came from.

I wonder if some of those bikes were ever ridden and if they still work?

I’m betting with a little TLC
all those bikes could run again.

I am sure my oldest brother who is a Harley guy would love the museum too

::yes::

Mecca

I wish I had known about your trip maybe we could have met as well, although my new state of Texas is rather far from where you're at now.

Well....
You’ll see pretty soon
that I can drive a fair bit
out of my way for a DISmeet.
:rolleyes1

I did see that your airline is sponsoring that lovely shed. Very cool!

::yes::

Yes I would. I watched most of "Harley and the Davidsons" mini series and really enjoyed it. I love history.

I saw that too!
Really enjoyed it. :)

I do remember this on Sesame Street but not the version from 1969.

It’s been around in several
Iterations.

This sounds very Disneyish.

A great money maker.
I’m betting those “rivets”
cost them a few cents each.

I want to see the photographic proof.

I’ll see what I can do.

Free is always good.

::yes::

I like the old ones.

They’re so different...
And the history behind them
is really interesting.

Very cool.

I really didn’t know
it was exploded like that
until I walked into the room.

He's my Hero!

Did you mean:
He’s also your hero?

:rolleyes1

:rotfl:

I hate when it brings me to the wrong place.

:sad2:

OMG! You're a guy and you asked for directions? I'm very impressed. Not just once but twice.

Oh sure.
I’m secure enough to
know that I can be wrong
and comfortable enough
in my own skin to ask.

Dis Meets are so fun.

::yes::

Crab Cakes are one of my favorite dishes.

Mine too... now!

Key Lime Pie is another.

::yes::::yes::

I didn't read any of his reports but I do remember him commenting on several reports I was reading.

He’s such a fun read!
If you can find some
of his old stuff, I highly
recommend.

I'm sorry to hear this. I'll add him to my prayers.

Thank you.

All in all it was a great day.

It really was! :)

I do have a breakfast dish and it's real easy.

Sausage Squares

Thanks!
Do you cool the sausage
before you mix it?
And I presume the cheese
is at room temperature?

I forgot to add that yes I did see something. Too bad the shed wasn't the original. Very disappointing.

I guess it would be
too much too expect.

Because it is art I can understand.

Although I know the motorcycles on display are their own works of art and craftsmanship, they would all start to look the same to me.

I totally get this.
By the end, I was sick
of looking at bikes.

“Huh. Two wheels. Go figure.”

Kind of the same thing I experienced when we went to the Udvar-Hazy Air Museum (part of the Smithsonian) near Dulles Airport. It was an impressive display of some pretty incredible airplanes, but it really was a bit of overload.

I can see that.
How long were you in there?

The boys loved it, though!

Good!

So many possibilities!

::yes::

I am not a big fan. Too sweet for me, I prefer savory for breakfast. My favorite from Kona Café is the Macadamia-Freaking-Pineapple Pancakes.

Hmmmm...
not sure if I’d go for that.
Have to see it first.

So far it hasn't happened.

Maybe for his 20th. Check back with me on July 5.

:rotfl2:

 okay!

How was the trip?

It was special, different but special. I even had some solo time.

I have a favour to ask.
I for sure won’t be able
to check it out until after
I get back.
But could you remind me?
I’ll be back on the 18th, I believe.

This I can do. My family tells me I'm a real good nag.

In about... 2? 3? Updates. :)

Yikes! I'm going to be on pins and needles until then.

:sad2:
Oh no.
Definitely not imaginary.

Now, I'm really worried too.

Oh!
Photos???

Like any proud Mama I have some share.

Thanks for that! :goodvibes
Can I substitute whipped cream
for the Cool Whip?
Or is there a reason I shouldn’t?

I've never tried whipped cream. I don't know if it would have the right consistency. Might not be thick enough.

A great money maker.
I’m betting those “rivets”
cost them a few cents each.

::yes::

I’ll see what I can do.

Looking forward to this.

Did you mean:
He’s also your hero?

:rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Yeah sure.

Oh sure.
I’m secure enough to
know that I can be wrong
and comfortable enough
in my own skin to ask.

:cool1:

He’s such a fun read!
If you can find some
of his old stuff, I highly
recommend.

I'll have to look them up.

Thanks!
Do you cool the sausage
before you mix it?
And I presume the cheese
is at room temperature?

Sausage should not be cooled. Mix it hot so the creme cheese melts in. Spread the warm mixture on the crescent roll dough.

I guess it would be
too much too expect.

::yes::
