Canadian Buffoon's Back to Front Vacation - Update! 05/18 - Falling Down

Wow! That's an awesome gift!

::yes::
And I wore it last night
and this morning
when I was shoveling. :)

This would be a benefit if Nathan and I ever have children—he would have an excuse for his dad jokes.

Of course.
Otherwise...
there's no excuse.

According to the urban dictionary, "carion" is "Any kind of meat that you transport in you personal in-cabin luggage on an airplane." This made me chuckle.

:sad2:

This feels so satisfying! I've never had the pleasure of watching some speeding goon get pulled over, but I always hold out hope.

I've seen it once...
maybe twice before.

And it's awesome.

Wow! How thoughtful! ...and tasty!

Yes... and yes!

That's so unfortunate! I'm sure you both missed out here. But these things happen.

I was pretty bummed.
Still am, actually.

I'm way behind, but I meant to comment on the Corning Museum! I actually went there when I was a teenager, with my family! We actually stopped there on a road trip that included putting my sister on an airplane in New York (to go to Israel for a summer program), but on the way back after we dropped her off. She was a bit peeved when she realized she had missed something that cool! (But, y'know, the rest of us didn't go on a big overseas adventure...)

I have to say, curator at a glass museum does sound like a fun job.

I'm way behind

But you're here now!
Hi, Irene!

but I meant to comment on the Corning Museum! I actually went there when I was a teenager, with my family!

Really!
That makes two of us. :)
Great, wasn't it?

:lmao:
I was forced to go
to an entirely new
country on an entirely
new continent...

But you guys got to
go to the Corning Museum!

Actually... You're sister's right.
I loved that museum.

I have to say, curator at a glass museum does sound like a fun job.

And I'm sure she's a
smashing success at it!
Not to say that it's always
all that it's cracked up to be.
But them's the breaks.

Playing catch up today! I think I'm going to do a separate post for each one of yours I missed otherwise I will forget everything I wanted to say!

Niagara Falls.

Been there many times myself although it's been a long time since the last visit. When I lived in Erie, PA it was a pretty short drive.

Most (some?... one?)
of you know that I
like Japanese gardens.

Huh. Never knew that about you. :confused3 :rotfl:

I did smile at this foot bridge:

Usually, the sand garden
is one of my favourite spots
to stop and just... be.

Doesn't seem very peaceful with all the buildings in the background.

I also visited the
BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir
(Hindu temple)

Wow, just wow!

The view from our seats:

Very nice!

(Of note, he did not perform
a single song from Lion King.)

:sad1:

And with that,
Elton John launched
into what was a
magical, mystical concert
experience for me and
a few thousand of my
closest friends.

Sounds like an amazing experience all around!

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yep. I can't imagine the size of the booster seat he needed to see out that windshield :rotfl2:

Okay! Good luck!

That would be. :)

So... since it's been a while...
There's water?
And it's in a river?
And it goes over a drop?

That's it.

Huh. Never knew that about you. :confused3 :rotfl:

:sad2:

It was a distraction.
Not gonna lie.
But facing the other way
was nice.

Or would have been
if it had been raked.

Wow, just wow!

::yes::

I was very surprised at
the amount of detail.

Very nice!

Not too shabby!
Not too cheap, either.

I wondered if it was either
just too much material
and not enough time, or...

Disney copywrite issues.

Sounds like an amazing experience all around!

::yes::
It really was!

Yep. I can't imagine the size of the booster seat he needed to see out that windshield :rotfl2:

And for whatever reason,
I can't quote the video.
I like his perfect swan dive.

You never know when you'll have
that meet that just doesn't work.
I'm always at least a little worried
that the other side of the equation
just won't show up.

I've met quite a few DISer to date and all the meets have been great! But I also worry about them and how it will go.

Plus... I do know that,
(sexism be damned)
for the women especially,
meeting a strange man
(oh... how very strange!)
alone can be.. well...
uncomfortable to say the least.

Funny thing is, my husband had no issues with me meeting up with you and @docsoliday1 but my Mother in Law threw a fit when she found out. :rotfl2:

I had visions of
countless displays similar to... this:

Ha! We have one of those baking dishes. Jim just used it last week to make meatloaf in.

Tracy was waiting for me
and...

One DISer I definitely want to meet someday. I'm so sad she isn't going to make it for the May trip.

Here's a small sampling
of the amazing glass on display:

Again, just Wow!

Tracy's convinced that they used
that as the basis of the
Crystal Foxes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Judge for yourselves...

I totally see it!

Not sure why, it just called to me.

:rotfl:Silly Marvin

We returned to the museum
and watched a glass blowing
demonstration.

I've watched one of these on Main Street. I see Marvin enjoyed the demonstration too.

I was meeting Mark's family
for the first time.

Another DISer I would love to meet someday.

Much better.
Thanks Drew.
I owe you one, buddy.

Perfection! :lmao:

Did you see them both?

Yep!

I've had great meets.
You were one of them! :)

Funny thing is, my husband had no issues with me meeting up with you and @docsoliday1 but my Mother in Law threw a fit when she found out. :rotfl2:

All I could think there was...
"I wanna meet your mom."

:lmao:

Ha! We have one of those baking dishes. Jim just used it last week to make meatloaf in.

Everyone has those!

One DISer I definitely want to meet someday. I'm so sad she isn't going to make it for the May trip.

I know. I was sad for her
when I heard.
Had hoped to see her down there.

Next time! :)

Again, just Wow!

Right?????

I totally see it!

Totally stole that!

:rotfl:Silly Marvin

I've watched one of these on Main Street. I see Marvin enjoyed the demonstration too.

He's a fan.

Another DISer I would love to meet someday.

Mark (and family!)
is great. :)

Perfection! :lmao:

He really did make
it happen!

;)

Seven hours of work later,
she delivered.

That's just all kind of awesome.

Please refer to previous
disclaimer re: Dad jokes.

:rolleyes2

Sir? This is the Hampton Inn.
Your reservation is for the
Country Inn."

Yikes! I kind of thought this was going there. :rotfl2: When Jim first flew down to Atlanta for the job interview that brought us here, he booked a hotel near the interview location. Being from a small town (Erie) he didn't even think of the fact that there may be more than one hotel with the same name in Atlanta. He ended up at the wrong one and weird thing is, they found his reservation and gave him a room even though it was the wrong location. :confused3

And it turns out I was correct,
as I passed him a little later,
pulled over by a State trouper.

Nice karma there!

Rob was in Charlotte...
at Bar-B-Q King.
(Not BBQ King.)

Ah man, that's just too bad.

Did you see it in this chapter?

Yep, I saw Marvin snooping on all those Coffee Crisps.

That's just all kind of awesome.

::yes:: I love it! :goodvibes

So his mistake was... not!
Was it the same chain?
Or did he have to call the other
hotel and cancel?

Nice karma there!

::yes::

Ah man, that's just too bad.

Still bummed about it. :(

Yep, I saw Marvin snooping on all those Coffee Crisps.

Interplanetary travel makes
him hungry.

Soooo...
Been a long year so far.
I’ve had only one day off
since December 28.
I had to pick up a few things
at Costco and decided to grab a package of meatballs.

Microwave instructions
are pretty basic.
Cut slit in plastic and nuke.

But the other heating directions...

 My mom had that set

Fancy that... Mine too!

"You have to try _____"

Uhm.... does that sentence end any other way than "Cheesy Poofs"!

So they do blow glass.
I'm going to have to go
back and take another looksie.

Did you watch the glass blowing when you went to Cedar Point? Back in the Frontier Trail. There is even the opportunity to do it yourself...

Oh, man.
But...
Where did you fall?
And how?
Did you trip over something?

Where?
At the gas station.
How?
Very carefully!
Did you trip over something?
Sure did. It was my pride!

Short story. Pumping gas. Did you know that gas pump hoses can grow arms? They reached out and grabbed my foot when I went to step over it to put my drink in the car. Then they laughed! True story!

And... is that a good thing?
Are you pleased to be placed there?

Yes and yes.
Being in a big hospital is very intimidating, BUT rewarding! All of my other class mates keep talking about the small hospitals they are in and how they send out many of the specimens they get to a larger facility. My response is "Yes, I know... I got them today and worked them up!" So basically, I am seeing MUCH more than what my classmates are seeing because I chose a large hospital with a drive versus staying close to home in a small hospital.
It was my second choice for placement. My first, the school couldn't get affiliated with (they weren't already) before my clinicals started, so they went with my second choice.

I should probably post something.
I know now which parks I'll be when.
Stay tuned... :)

Should I get my long-awaited Orphan Annie Secret Society decoder pin?

YES?

Not bad!
Almost the same as Canadian.
(Get the same brand too.)
Except here it's about the same
sweetness and we just call it ice tea,
not "Extra Sweet Tea".

My daughters favorite!

IMG_1104b_zpsm4kja6su.jpg

I love that photo.

Me too! Although I do not agree, my above mentioned daughter does! (edit to clarify: I do not agree about the yummyness of the candy, not the coolness of the picture! It is way cool!)

See?
Facts.
(Adventure is "cool"...
North Pole... South pole...
get it?)

nope!

I started to hydroplane
(which sounds pretty cool...
"Wow! A hydroplane! That's awesome!"
until you're doing it.)
and almost ran up on the curb.
I managed to negotiate
the turn successfully.

Not a hydroplane...but I did this once...

Remember video stores? Back in the day I had a bad habit of returning the video to the wrong store. I would get a phone call "Hi, this is Blockbuster...we have the DVD you were supposed to return to Rogers Video". What's worse is the poor guy at one store had to waste his time calling the other store to find out what schmuck rented "Sleepless in Seattle" a couple days ago. Oh wait...I mean "Terminator 2" yeah...that's what I rented.

I used to work at Blockbuster way back when. The funnest was when you had "so and so" who would drop "local video store" XXX rated movies in our drop box and I had to call "local video store" and give them the name of the video that was returned to us. It was so awful! I imagine it was even worse for the other worker to have to call the customer to tell them they dropped their XXX film at the wrong store.

It's on my "after I graduate" list come May though!

Hey! I have one of those lists too. IT IS SOOOOOOOOO LONG!

That's funny. I guess I can understand why it's a bit more concern for a woman, but that's also why we met at a very public place. Also, I think getting to know each other through TRs and such before hand helps (I hope) with any reservations/nervousness.

I always worry once you see what I look like, you'll run away screaming. :rotfl2:

Did the packaging actually say that or are your Photoshop skills being exhibited again? If the former, then someone has a sense of humor.

If the latter, then it should have made mention of the space modulator.

Fancy that... Mine too!

They all did.
It was a legal requirement.

Uhm.... does that sentence end any other way than "Cheesy Poofs"!

NO!!!!!

Crap. Had no idea.
Then again... if I'd known,
I'd probably have skipped
every coaster

You wrote it like it's funny, but...

I know it hurt you, and for that
I'm sorry that it happened.

Glad you got that.

Should I get my long-awaited Orphan Annie Secret Society decoder pin?

Nah. I'll post it in plain language.
Probably after I finish up
this portion of the TR.
Hmm.... in 3-4 more updates?

My daughters favorite!

Honorary Canadian.

They're not for everyone.
They're possibly my least
favourite.

I've been to Nebo's and Smidgy's home.
But they know me a bit better...

I think a public place is a good idea, actually.
But I wouldn't hesitate if someone said.
"Come on over!"

Nope! That was the actual packaging.

I didn't notice until later,
but there was a third method.
Stovetop.

Reason I didn't notice was because
most of the directions were normal...

But the first line was:
Get package back from
recycling since you need
it for the directions.

That's what I said or will say again when you're here in May, but I suspect Elle will nix that.
