Struck a conversation with a Canada post worker today, and according to him negotiations are not going well.

I told him I needed just a few more days until my Disney stuff came in, then they could go on full strike :rotfl:

This and the Air Canada strike (we're flying with them...): this one needs to be resolved in the next 22 days!!

I know what you mean. We are waiting for our ME stuff for our August trip and photopass cd from our May trip. I want my stuff already LOL

Well, on the Air Canada front, the federal government has given them 2 days to settle or they will table back to work legislation. So that will be done in 22 days.

The postal strike will not be legislated. Thankfully, you don't require any Disney documentation to go to Disney. Even with ME the worst you do is get your bags in Orlando and got to the ME desk. For everything else you just need your confirm numbers from the Internet.

Just wanted to add that no worries if you are expecting a passport. We sent in our applications about 2 weeks before the Canada Post strike started. Passport Cananda called to veryify a daytime delivery address b/c they were not taking chances. Our passports were delivered by Purolator about 2 weeks after we dropped the renewal applications off at our local Service Cananda Centre.

As for Air Canada, I hope they are able to resolve matters on their own without needing government legislation. (On the other hand, we are flying with them in August, so it's nice to know things should be back to "normal" by then.) And call me terrible, but I'm crossing my fingers for a great seat sale (that covers late December/early January) at the end of it all.

So Lisa LaFlame just posted that Canada Post confirmed that they have shut down all Urban Operations.

They have locked out employees. No mail this week

I got my DME tags last week shiiped on UPS for our July trip. I know a few others that received theirs on UPS as well. I don't know if it always comes on UPS or if they are doing that cause of the strike

Sure and my client told me yesterday that my cheque is in the mail for the work I did for them.:(
RESOLVE IT ALREADY!:furious:

My Magical Express tagshave always been delivered by Fed X and recently Up I have never received them by mail.

I ordered my park tickets through UT on Friday when they announced the price increase. Sure don't like the idea of $3000 worth of tickets being stuck in the mail. :scared: Sure hope they get it resolved ASAP!

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is aware of the labour situation at Canada Post/Postes Canada (CPC/SCP), and is monitoring it closely. Travel documents sent via post are being sent normally, but may change depending on the situation.

It should be noted that the Federal Minister of Labour has announced that she intends to table legislation shortly in Parliament ordering CPC/SCP workers to return to work. I would venture to guess that postal service should be resumed in the next several days.

Over the long term, it should also be noted that Canada Post/Postes Canada has announced that it will reduce mail delivery to three days per week in most urban areas outside of Greater Toronto, Greater Montréal and Winnipeg, Man. It has not been made clear if these measures will be discontinued or not following the resolution of the current labour conflict.

Just an update. Today the government is saying they may table legislation next week on the postal strike because it has now escalated to a full stoppage of delivery.

I want to say that they shipped my tickets through FedEx a few years ago ... when neither USPS nor Canada Post was on strike.

I called them this morning. It seems they now UPS them to Toronto, and then they would be mailed regular post from there. :confused3 The good news = with the big rush on tickets due to the Disney price increase, mine aren't in the mail yet, and when I asked them to hold them for a week or so (I'm not in a rush, our trip is not until end of Nov), she laughed and said they were so behind that it would likely be even longer than that. So hopefully that gives Canada Post enough time to get their act together!

I'm concerned about my passport. I know I have a while yet to go but we had passport issues. I have to get mine, then once I have a valid passport, have to sign for my gf to get hers as she has no guarantor here in Nova Scotia. So, we have to wait to have mine processed and delivered and then take her application to the Passport office in Halifax and get it processed and delivered. It just makes me sick thinking of the postal strike and no mail delivery.

We could have paid extra to pick it up at the passport office but I can't take the extra days off work to head to Halifax to get them. I'm sure it will all work out but in the meantime, I am really quite nervous.

The Federal Government has switched to private couriers for the duration of the Canada Post labour dispute (90% of the time using Purolator, owned by Canada Post but functionally separate). Don't worry about that one :)

The problem with that is that nobody is home during the day to accept a package. I leave for work around 8 am and get home after 5 pm. Hopefully they will leave a slip telling me where I can pick it up.

They usually do that.

We have also resorted to leaving a note on the door addressed to "Purolator Delivery Person" asking them to either deliver to my sister's address (3 doors ups the street) or to call our cell number should they arrive and we not be home.

The U.S. Postal Service has announced that it will stop accepting mail addressed to Canada from Saturday, 17 June, until further notice. Select items shipped via USPS' "Global Express Guaranteed" service are delivered in Canada via FedEx, and will continue to be accepted.

So it figures that just before the postal strike, I go on an ebay kick! I'm waiting for no less than 7 different things to arrive, including my new Pyraminx rubik's pyramid! I've been wanting one of them for ages! I'm glad to hear that even if our Disney package doesn't arrive, we don't actually need it as long as we have the confirmation numbers! That was worrying me!
