My mother and Father are looking into buying a DVC resale. I know the right of use expiration is in 2042(38 years). There is a good chance that they will not be around in 2042.

If they die before 2042 and Will their membership to me, will I be able to assume ownership until the DVC membership expires in 2042?

This probably doesn't apply in your case, but the membership cannot be split as part of a bequest. If the parents have 150 points in a single contract, they can't will 75 to one child and 75 to the other. Since we have two children who both love WDW, we hope to wind up with two contracts of equal size so they each can have a few years after we're gone for just the price of dues.

My parents purchased points about 3 years ago and will most likely not be around in 2042 either. They didn't care about restaurant discounts, tax writeoffs, perks, etc., so they bought the points on our existing membership. That way, nothing will need to be done when they pass away. The down side is I am not their travel agent!
