Can you walk to start from Boardwalk?

Can we walk to the start or do we have to take buses?

Busses to the start. You can walk back but will burn a pass day to go through the park.

Saddest story I heard happened a couple years ago when a spectator found a runner crumpled in a ball of tears at the I Gate. She was just a little late and thought she would go to the start through the park. I am sure she could see and hear the race go by.
