We will be at OKW for our first official DVC trip next spring. Just wondering if SSR is within walking distance. Would like to try dining options over there as well as Olivia's.

YES, you absolutely CAN walk from OKW to SSR. However, the path is only open from sunrise to sunset. It is a fairly long, but very doable walk. A little over a mile as I recall.
We just returned from SSR and took the boat from SSR to OKW. it was a 10 minute boat ride every 15 minutes after 4pm and much more relaxing than the walk
direct boat for OKW-SSR. Fun and takes about 15 minutes. We were at OKW this summer and took the boat at least 4X to eat, do ceramics at SSR Community Hall, watch a movie at the pool over at SSR, etc. Boat leaves every 30 minutes (on time and prompt) and then every 15-20 after 4 PM. Only issue is if there is an electrical storm, then they have to put up for a while.
Walking to breakfast is the most pleasant walk of the day, as it's sure to be the coolest & most comfortable period of the day. You can walk from SSR to OKW for breakfast, and then if you don't want to walk back hop on the Downtown Disney bus from OKW (Marketplace is the 1st stop), then walk back to SSR from there.
It was a long walk from the building we stayed in (21). But I believe the walkway is around buildings 53 - 56. You walk to the back of the parking lot and you come out to an area around the LBV Golf Course (if I remember correctly). The walkway goes along the channel where the boats go, and you can see some of the old tree house villas from the path. The path then comes to a point where you can go to either DTD West End, or go to SSR. Ask for a map at the front desk.
It was a very nice walk - and quiet, we only passed one other couple on the path. We are going back to OKW in October - can't wait!!!
You definitely can. It is a long walk and you'd probably be better taking the boat. However, if you're looking for a leisurely stroll, I highly recommend it.
Long is a relative term. If you like to walk, then this is not a long walk. We did it once and it took about 30 minutes. Very nice walk and you can wave at the boats as they go by!
When we visited in March, we had to switch resorts from SSR to OKW...bell services loaded up the golf cart and transported us through this very nice paved trail. I wish I had known about it earlier in the week as it would have been a wonderful morning or evening walk.
Have fun!

Exactly - I said it was a long walk, because from our building (21), to some people it would be a long way. Considering how much we walk in the parks everyday, and that my wife and I are runners - we looked at it as a nice quiet and private walk, a little time to relax and smell the roses while we were staying at OKW.
Plus - you can walk to SSR or DtD and then take a boat back to OKW. Perfect!
