Hi
I'm a Disney girl...have never been to the Universal Properties. Will probably stay at Doubletree by Hilton on Major blvd at the entrance to US. The thing is, I will be spending a lot of time at RPR for a conference. Do I need a car or can I walk? I can't tell by the maps I am finding. I'd like to save money from renting a car and put it to my 3 days in Disney following the conference.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Is there a hotel closer to RPR/IOA that would be in walking distance?
Thanks for your help!
Diane

You can walk to Citywalk and take the boat if you don't want to walk the whole way. It is probably about a 20-25 minute walk all in total if you dont take the boat. Other than staying at RPR, Doubletree or Hyatt Place are about the closest.

You can walk from there, a few have stayed there , Bubbas Mum read her trippie from last Oct, and KY07 aka lawerence also stayed there

I have stayed at the doubletree on major blvd and yes you can walk it and its not that bad walking across kirkman cause I did it with my two sons and never had any trouble and like others said just walk to citywalk and take the water taxi to the RPR :thumbsup2

i stayed there way back in the 90's.

i thought it was a long walk, especially heavy traffic..

then the hotels went up and i started staying onsite.

you can walk it...I see people do it all the time :thumbsup2

Also the hotels on Major usually have shuttles to if the times work for you and I hear a cab is about 5 bucks if it gets late or the weather is bad

have fun!

Thanks so much, everyone!
I really appreciate you taking the time to answer!

Are taxis easy to get or do you have to call ahead of time?

The doubletree usually always have some there waiting at the hotel but just ask someone either out front or desk and they will get you one :thumbsup2
