Can you use your MYW ticket to renew a seasonal pass?

My kids and I are seasonal passholders. My husband is deployed, so obviously he has no pass as of now. We are going to Disney for a few days during his R&R, and really want to take advantage of the dining plan. If we book a MYW package with a one day/one park ticket attached to it for each of us, can my husband turn around and upgrade it to a seasonal pass the first day we are there? And, in turn, can my kids and I hold on to our tickets, and then "trade them in", so to speak, to renew our seasonal passes when renewal time comes (which won't be until 7 months after our trip)?

When I called AAA to get pricing for this package, the Disney castmember told my AAA agent that no, I could not use my tickets to renew my SP. However, when the kids and I went in September, we were able to use our tickets from the Stay, Play, and Dine package to upgrade to a seasonal pass for each of us, at the guest relations window at MK. I just wasn't sure if they changed the rules since then, or if they will only let you use your ticket toward the price of a new SP, and not a renewal.

If not, can we sell the one day/one park tickets to a friend? Or is it attached to your room key? Also, how long is the standard one day/one park ticket good for?

Hope this makes sense, and thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

You were able to use your Stay, Play & Dine passes to upgrade to a seasonal passes because you were purchasing a new pass. What you're wanting to do now is to apply the dollar value of your 1-day passes to the renewal cost of your seasonal APs. Disney sees AP renewals as sort of already upgrading an exisiting ticket (you're extending its life by a year).

The one-day passes that you get will be on your room key, which means that your names will be on them when you check in. Technically, you cannot sell the tickets to someone else. The MYW 1-day tickets do not expire until after they're used. So, you could save them for a time when you'd like to visit WDW but no longer have seasonal passes or for a date when your passes are blackedout.

So we won't be able to use them to renew, then? What if we don't renew, and just buy new seasonal passes when the time comes? Can we use our dollar value of the one day/one park pass to do that in September (7 months after we buy them)?

Thanks so much for your help!
