Can you use your DVC discounts/perks when not staying at a Resort?

Hi again-we will be visiting family in Orlando and are planning a couple days WW. Can we use some DVC perks if we are not staying at a DVC resort? For example, food/merch discounts or valet parking (for a dinner res at a resort).

Yes and no. Some perks, such as pool hopping, only apply when staying at a DVC resort, on points.

Others only require your membership card. These would include your restaurant discounts. Also yes, you can valet park free (tip is appreciated) at the DVC-resorts, using just your membership card.

It's interesting that you should ask this. This past August I was checking into the BC (non-DVC stay) and asked if I could have a copy of the DVC Pocket Perks so that I had the restaurant discounts on hand. The CM gave me a really difficult time about it and said she wasn't supposed to give me these. I've assured her that I could still get my restaurant discounts with my member card even though I wasn't staying DVC.

Was I wrong?

No, you were not wrong. Most discounts, valet parking, etc do not require you staying on property. The member cash discount and pool hopping require do as does the DDP, in most cases those also require you to be staying using points though a MS cash discount is usually considered as a points stay as well. But I'd say that most front desk/concierge CM wouldn't know this.
