Can you use the Disney Gift cards at WDW restaurants.....

I am curious... can you use the Disney Gift Cards at WDW restaurants and counter service places??What about the kioks? Are there places you can't use them???? We don't use the dining plans and I thought this would be a good idea for our kids. I am getting my kids a gift card for our Jan. trip and giving it to them at Christmas. I am thinking of putting a large chunk of money on each for them to use throughout the parks on our trip. Our kids are older 20, 17 and 12. Plus our 17 year old son is bringing his friend. So the kids will be going off on their own some of trip. This way I know they have money so to speak. I just want to be "in the know" about these gift cards. THANKS


Oh and another question. Can you pay any hotel charges with these?

I have used them at CS and TS restaurants and at gift shops. I also used one to pay some of our hotel charges last time. I am not sure about where they are not accepted but do know that a huge chunk of places on Disney property accept them.

How does the hotel charges work? I mean you have to leave a credit card so do you just stop by and pay the charges before they are charged to your cc??

yes, i've used disney gc at wdw restaurants, both CS and TS. much less hassle than digging out cash.

As with any lodging operation, you would still have to leave a credit card number (or some other form of monetary deposit), so if there are any charges "above and beyond" the value of the gift card(s), Disney can collect what's due to them...

As for your OP concerning food services -- Disney Gift Cards are accepted at any facility on WDW/DL/DCL (including kiosks), so long as they are also able to accept credit/debit cards and have some sort of card reader. In other words, if it's a "cash only" operation, they won't accept the GCs.

I have heard of many people, here taking multiple Disney GCs to the front desk of their resort and having them collectively applied to their KTTW card.

Last year we charged everything to our KTTW card (tips, extra snacks, souvineers(sp?) etc.). We had several gift cards and disney rewards cards, so on the day we checked out we stopped at the desk and paid almost our entire balance with the cards. Very easy! Hope this helps.

Don't they run your cc through though every few days when you are staying a week or longer? At least that is what I thought. Or do they run it through before you check out?
