Can you use the disney express transportation if you don't book your flight through?

Can you use the disney magical express if you don't book your flight with your package & book it through another site like cheapseats etc. Also do you have to be staying at a disney resort to use it as well.

I believe you can us ME if you're stayong onsite and flying on a participating airline.. Someone else might know more than me..

Ronda is correct. DME has NOTHING to do with any sort of package. There are only two requirements to be eligible for DME: fly into MCO on a commercial flight (ANY airline), and be a registered guest at a Disney owned-and-operated resort. Swan, Dolphin, Shades of Green, and the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd. are examples of resorts which are NOT Disney owned-and-operated even though they sit on Disney property.

The whole "participating airline" thing has to do with the way DME handles luggage. If you are flying on a participating airline, then your luggage can be picked up from the airport for you by DME and you won't have to handle it yourself. If you fly a non-participating airline, you will have to pick up your luggage and take it to the DME counter, where it will then be shipped to your WDW resort for you.

That's no quite correct.
The "participating airline" thing only comes into play on the RETURN flight--with a participating airline, you can actually check your luggage at the resort 12 hours in advance of less and they will transport it to the airport for you and you take the DME to the airport and you won't have to deal with your luggage again until it comes off the carousel at your ome ariport.
If you are flying a non-particpating airline, you bring your luggage on the bus with you from the resort to the airport.
EVERYONE, regardles of airline, can put the DME luggage tags on their bags at check them at the home airport and have them magically appear their room. You DO NOT have to retrieve your luggage NOR do you have to bring it with you on the bus to the resort - participating airline or not.
