We will be spending a week at the BCV, but the kids really want to see the ocean during out trip. Would we be allowed to use the beach at the Vero Beach Resort for a day during our stay? If so, does anyone know how far of a drive it is?

VB is around 2 hours away - depending upon traffic and construction - could be less - could be more. You need to all the resort before you drive that far - to make sure you can visit. if the the resort is at capcaity - I don't think you will be allowed to visit.

how about getting a studio then the kids could enjoy the beach - you come back to WDW the next day.

The beach at the Vero Beach resort is a public beach. You will be allowed to use it no matter where you are staying. I would imagine you would need to use the public access and not the access through the resort. I don't know what the area is like after the hurricanes, but in the actual town of Vero Beach (the resort is next to the town, not in it) there is (or used to be?) a nice park surrounded by shops with beach access. You could always go there. And there must be closer beaches to WDW if you are just looking for a beach.

If you want to use the resort pool and other facilities I agree you should call ahead, but the beach is open to everyone.

If your are talking about staying at WDW, and spending some beach time during that stay, Cocoa Beach would be a better idea. It's much closer than Vero, lots of public access, and is at least as good a beach.

Or, if you're heading north on I-95 after Disney, Daytona or anywhere between there and St. Augustine is also nice. All of the Atlantic beaches are very good, except for the Keys.

Yes, you can use the beach at Vero.

If you go up to the front desk and show them your room key from BCV they should be able to give you a day pass to use the pool, etc.

I would definitely go to a closer beach, like Cocoa. It'll save you at least a couple hours of driving.

DVC members do not get day use at other resorts other than PH. And while I've never seen an official comment from DVC about PH at VB, the best info I have is that it is not officially allowed though some have been allowed and others turned away, even when they showed up at the resort.

Last I knew, members staying at other DVC resorts could get a day pass at VB.

Of course, this came from CM's at the front desk and we all know you can get 3 different answers from 3 different people.

If anyone plans on doing this at VB, I would certainly call first.
