Can you use someone else's Disney Rewards Dollars at WDW?

I just found out that my sister has a Disney Visa and has a significant amount of Disney Rewards Dollars which would essentially pay for dining on our next trip. She has had the card for years and never cashed any in and some are expiring. I have a Disney Visa as well but have not actually cashed in for the rewards card yet because the amount of rewards I have is minimal. I was wondering if I would be able to use her rewards on our next trip. Anyone ever do this or have any ideas? FYI - she will not be going on the trip with us. Thanks for your help.

As long as you have the Rewards card with the money loaded on it - you can use it. You don't have to sign anything or show ID to use it.

In the past, my sister has given each of my kids a Reward Card with some money transfered from her account onto it. They really enjoyed using their cards to buy their own souvenirs on our last trip. I enjoyed not spending MY money for souvenirs!:thumbsup2

Yep. As long as she's willing to let you have them, which I imagine she would since some are about to expire. Just ask her to order the rewards card for you. She can do it over the phone (she can call the number on the back of her card) or order the card online on Chase's website.

Yeah, my grandparents gave us theirs to take the kids to BBB. They were with us on the trip, but not when I paid. It is like a gift card.

Wow - you guys are fast. Thank you for all the quick replies. :worship: I will have her order the card for our trip in April.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to say I'm grateful it's still here! My aunt passed away from lung cancer earlier this year, it's taken both her and my mom (her older sister) in their way to early to go fifties (don't smoke!) Anyway, their other sister has been doing all the estate issues and ended up cashing in the Disney rewards and giving me the card. I wasn't sure we'd have an issue using it, until I read this. And while it was more fun the year we took her to Disney with us, I'm sure she'd get a kick out of treating us to a lunch at Disney posthumously.

i have a friend who gave me his rewards. But he had to verify it after he received the card. It’s like the steps when getting a new physical credit card.

Did she also close the related credit card account(s)? The thing is... the Rewards Redemption Card can be used by anybody, but the credit card account must be active. Once the account is closed, the Reward points are lost even if transferred to a Redemption Card. If she hasn't closed the credit card account yet, I suggest using the Redemption Card to purchase a Disney Gift Card. That will remain valid until used.

Sorry for you losses and I hope you enjoy your vacation!

Thanks - I miss her and my mom terribly. She was the youngest of 4 sisters and only 12 when my mom had me at 21, so she was more of a sister than an aunt... You got me worried enough to call because I'm sure she has cancelled the account. Her two neerdowell adult children would have found a way to run up her cards. I called Disney Rewards and explained the situation. He said the $34 is still valid on the card and won't be cancelled out even if the credit card is cancelled. He also said under the circumstances, no Disney park employee will question the authorization. We'll see, no big deal if it gets canceled though! :)
