Hi

I am starting to think about the flight with my 5 yr old and my twin boys who will be then 23 months and starting to think omg.

I had a thought today can we take portable DVD players on Virgin flights? If so we can then take several flims to entertain the kids on a long 9 hr flight. :scared1:

I hope you can help!

Hi

We used our portable DVD player last year but that was on a Monarch flight, I can't see there being any problems using it on Virgin flights.
Just don't use it while taking off and landing.

Portable dvds no problem on virgin but the kids will have their own seat back tvs with kids channels (didn't know if u knew that, apologies if you did, just thought you may want to save on hand luggage!)

I knew they had kiddie programmes, but was worried that they were not on all the time and they were shared between older children and younger children. Casey and I went to Florida last yr via My Travel but the kiddie programme was a circular programme of repeats and there was 2 programmes for her age the others were for children about 10 I would say. I was worried that Virgin was the same. Is there a website where you can get upto date information on entertainment showing at the moment on Virgin?

I would take them with you anyway :flower: .
We flew with Virgin in Feb but the seatback tvs didn't work on the way out (we were given a portable DVD to borrow with limited DVDs) and Virgin had to charter a different plane for our return which only had a central screen
I'm anything for making life easier. The Virgin movies and game channels are great - if they work..... :wave2:

Don't wanna hijack (sp?) the thread, but are they allowed on Travel City Direct flights?
Just wondering because bf's Aunty is going with them in November and she has a 6yr old daughter (only child).

I wouldn't have thought any airline would have a problem with them especially on a long haul flight. In fact I even saw one or 2 people with them on a recent flight with Ryan from Luton to Reus (Salou) and that's only a 2 hour flight. I've heard they are heavy on batteries though.

We used our portable DVD player on our trip in March for our little boy, flying with Virgin as always.

There was no problems so you can definitely use them.

Ours is very light and we have 2 battery packs so we are covered for the long flight.
The kids TV channels genrally do not appeal to our son, so we will be taking it along with us on our August Florida holiday too.
Wonder how we managed without one now.

I take my laptop and play them on that, though as we fly UC, we can power the lappy from the seat, but AFAIK that option is not available for Econ pax.
