Can you use gift cards at the expo?

Does anyone know if you can use Disney gift cards to pay for race merchandise (like pins and shirts) at the race expos?

Also, I'm assuming there aren't any AP discounts? (This is for a race at Disneyland).

I haven't done a Disneyland race yet but at the WDW expos you can use gift cards on official runDisney merchandise and can get a 10% AP discount (or 10% Disney Visa Discount but you need to spend at least $50 for that).

I didn't use a gift card at the Disneyland expo, but I was able to use the AP discount for official merchandise.
