Hi All,

We have passports that do not expire until 2007 and have never been used. Can we use these instead of a birth certificate, does it have to be a BC, or do you need a passport and BC?

First time cruiser, can you tell.:)

Thanks,
Renee

A passport is the best way to travel nowadays. Nothing else would be needed along with it. Just your passport is sufficient. Just make sure that the the names on your passport match exactly the names on your reservation.

Passports are the best solution.
Both my kids have had them since age 2.
Makes everything from travel to Little League and soccer easier.

Passports are the way to go!

We've used them on the last 3 cruises and it makes check-in a breeze!

Thanks Mary. I am taking it that since you have a passport, tou did not need the BC, too, right? That would be great if that is all I need since I have it already. I do not know where our BCs are or how to get copies (for Calif.).

Have a great weekend!
Renee

HI I just received confirmation from DCL that if we have passports we don't need any other i.d at all.

correct Bernee passports only you will be fine

We also took photo ids (licenses) to carry off/on the ship in the ports - you need picture id to reboard. We didn't want to leave our passports sitting on the beach while we were swimming .... didn't want to lose them or get them wet. The licenses fit easily in those plastic/waterproof things you can hang around your neck.

You are correct - a passport is all you need. It has your picture on it and replaces your birth certificate.

We usually fill out out paperwork ahead of time and tuck the necessary sheets in our passport (keeping the rest of our book with us just in case). Always brings a smile to the person checking us in as it is all organized for them.

Diane makes a good point a regular photo id (drivers liscense) works best for getting on and off the ship. We just put our passports in the safe for the rest of the trip.

BTW - passports work great at the airport too!

I have all of the B.C. for my family. Only thing is the last name on my (Photo) License. Does not match my B.C. as I took DH last name when we got married. Of course the first name and D.O.B. is the same. Do I need to carry the marriage license also? None of us have passports, we don't get off the continent much.

I would bring at least a copy just in case. Better safe than sorry.

When is Disney going to upgrade their system so you don't have to carry your DL with you when you get off the ship. We were on RCCL last year and when you check in they take your picture and everytime your card is swiped at the gangway your picture pops up on the screen. All you need to take off the ship is your KTTW. No need to worry about losing your DL in a foreign port.
