Can you tell me everything you know about the WWOHP expansion?

It is going in the Studios where JAWS/AMity was.It will be the London/Diagon Alley area in the books/movies( the current area is Hogsmeade/Hogwarts) It will connect to IOA/Wizarding World of Harry Potter via the Hogwarts Express ( you will need Park to Park tickets to do that). The Expansion contains a Gringotts bank vault ride, some shops/possible Leaky Cauldron restuarant and another Ollivanders location. It is supposed to open Summer 2014

You can't ride the new section without a park to park pass? That just doesn't seem right. I was under the impression that the ride began at the castle and returns you to where you began. :confused3

You're confusing the Hogwart's Express with other rides.

The Hogwart's Express is the train that will travel between the two parks. There is the main ride, Gringott's that is in Diagon Alley in USF and there is also The Forbidden Journey in Hogsmeade in IOA.

You can do all of the rides in each park with just a one park pass. You just can't go from one park to the other via the Hogwart's Express Train without a two park pass. It does seem right because it will take you from inside one park to inside another park.

Exactly..to ride the Hogwarts express from one park to the next you will need park to park access. It is totally fair..It is like visiting 2 parks at Disney on the same day.You need a park hopper to do that there.

When? Where?

Diagon Alley is moving rather quickly in the build phase and should be open by 2014.

DA will patch both parks thru the entire wizarding world and hogwarts express will be the transportation. IOA/US is undergoing the buildout and from what I saw of it. DA is going to be HUGE!

Rowling is on top of the buildout and she should be making a checkup sometime within the next month.

Very interesting. I had thought it was going to be part of IOA. I guess this was a good marketing move on Universal's part. Anybody who might have been inclined to "just" go to IOA for WWoHP is going to buy a ticket for both parks now for sure.

::yes::

They're not dumb, the Potter area opened in Islands of Adventure in June 2010,attendance at IOA in 2010 went up 32% compared to 2009 and that was with the Potter area only being open half the year.At the same time Universal Studios next door only went up like 7-9%.This was a very smart and necessary move, with the Potter expansion next year along with Transformers,Simpsons additions and the possible addition of a new King Kong ride the balance should probably be more even between the two parks with Universal probably getting more visitors.

There are some rumours that you may be able to do a round trip on the Hogwart's Express without getting off and without needing a park to park ticket, but that has not been confirmed.

I heard that too, but I also heard that they were trying to figure out how to not make that a logisitical nightmare .I am sure whatever they choose to do will have issues in the beginning.Heck, I still saw people in Jan 2012 having to be told ( after they entered the studios and were looking for Harry Potters Castle) that they were in the wrong park and they were NOT happy since they didn;t have park to park tickets.

Oh my goodness!!!! Really??

It doesn`t take much research to find out which park HP is!!!

That is what I was talking about. I thought that was how it would work. Money wise park to park would be their answer but as a customer I would sure like to have it round trip. We do buy 3-4 day park passes but only one park per day. :scratchin

That would make sense and I think that rumor definitely has teeth. So it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be true.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times already but what is the new featured ride in the new HP section going to be like? Is this the bank vault ride?

We know there's coaster track inside the building so most people are assuming coaster mixed with dark ride elements,I'm hoping there's a drop track in there like Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.I also wouldn't be surprised to see video mixed in as well.

That's cool, the only thing I would possibly prefer is a boat ride, just love boat rides

On the subject of the size of the new area....Why do you think the WWOHP was built so small? Are there any plans to expand that area?
