I don't really know what Jedi training is. Can you give me some information? My son will be 6.5 when we go. Is this a good age to do it? Too young? Any information would be great! THANKS!

My twins were about 6.5 when they did it and it was a perfect age. Old enough to get it, and young enough to believe it was all real. About a dozen kids go on stage with a Jedi master and he teaches them a handful if light saber moves. Darth Vader and a couple storm troopers come out and the kids all fight him. If you haven't already, look it up on YouTube. But it's a lot of fun, definitely the highlight of my boys trip!! But be sure to arrive early. We were the 2nd family through the turnstiles, raced right over to sign ups but still didn't get a show until after 11.

6.5 is a perfect age for Jedi Training.

It's a Star Wars show where a group of children participate, learn how to use a training light saber, and face off against Darth Vader (or Darth Maul, if there are two groups in the show).

To participate you and your child (the child must be present) sign up at the ABC Sound Studio. You probably want to make this a priority of sorts as the spots do fill up quickly.

There is a PhotoPass photographer at each show and parents can get a card to access all the photos taken during your show.

The children receive a rolled-up diploma for participating.

Here's a YouTube video if you want to see what it entails.

Lots of kids watch JTA videos prior to participating and they are very confident onstage. DD is a Padawan and she notes that oftentimes the kids don't want to be there. So, it's always good to make sure ahead of time that your child is interested in participating.

My nephew was 6 when he did this, and a huge Star Wars fan. He stole the show when Darth Vader told him, "Soon, you will feel the power of the Dark Side!" He exclaimed, "NEVER!" and attacked him. Got a huge round of applause.

Oh awesome! We have an 8 AM ADR at Hollywood and Vine so this should be perfect for my husband and son to run over to. Thanks for the advice everyone!

We do too. My thoughts were that as soon as the last character visits our table to send ds and dh out to sign up and hopefully best the people that are coming in 15 min before park opening. I will stay back and pay the bill.

Or, you can always ask for the bill as soon as you are seated. That way you don't have to wait around.

If you get a time slot, what time should you be back before the show starts so they don't give your spot to someone else? So if you are signed up for the 11:00 show, should you be there 15 minutes early?

We always ask for the bill right when we're seated. :thumbsup2

Note that there will be a CM stationed outside the restaurant who won't let anyone leave the general vicinity until they start letting people into the gates. You'll still be ahead of the crowd, but you're not going to be able to sign up 15 minutes before anyone else. We try to finish up with breakfast and be outside by 8:40.

They tell you to be there 30 minutes before your assigned show. They declare you a no-show shortly after that, though I'm not exactly sure when. We almost lost our spot once because we lost track of time. They were just getting ready to give our spot away, and it was about 20 minutes until show time. While the actual show doesn't start until the scheduled time (11:00 in your example), they're prepping the kids, getting them their robes, walking them to the stage, etc. before then. They take the stage at 11:00, but there is plenty of activity going on before then.

Thank you! Just trying to work on my touring plan and it is very hard to do when you are not sure what show they will be signed up for or when you need to be there.

They will attempt to schedule JTA around your Fp+ schedule so make sure you have a copy of Fp+ times when you sign up.

The first session is at 9:20 and then held every 50 minutes. So, keep at least one hour open to fit in JTA.
