HI all,
Just wondering if you are allowed to take food and drinks into the park. We will be traveling with a then 4 and 6 year old with dietary issues. It will be next to impossible to find anything for the 6 year old to eat in the park except for the snacks and if possible I would rather not run back to the room every time she needs to eat. And the 4 year old never stops eating I will go broke if I can't take some snacks in for her ;)

Yes, no problem. I think the only limits are no glass and no outside alcohol. There is no alcohol at all at MK, other parks sell some in limited quantities.

I think the best strategy if you have your own stroller is to put the water/snacks in the bottom basket of your stroller. We like those large ziploc bags (2.5 gal). For the little ones, I also like those water bottles with 'sports' or squirt tops. It's really important to stay hydrated! The best way to do that is with water. Most water bottles can be refilled a few times, then tossed or recycled - which is better than sippy cups, because you don't have to worry so much about sanitizing them or losing them.

when you enter the parks, you will have to go through a bag search, so that's why the clear ziplocs work well. Sometimes you can fold your stroller withthe water bottles in the basket, if not, having all in one ziploc is pretty easy to deal with on the bus. If you've got jackets, have everyone wear theirs until after you get in to the park. Otherwise, just keep in mind that anything you carry in tothe parks- you'll have to carry all day! So it's wise to only bring the absolute essentials.

There's no shortage of places to get a wide variety of snacks at WDW either. Bottled water is expensive at WDW, so that's a good thing to bring with you...other snacks, in limited quantity, IMO. I'm not saying don't bring them, but just don't bring more than you think you'll eat.

Our family has a number of dietary limits too, but with a little planning, WDW is great. If you call them and talk about your needs they are VERY helpful! They serve Kosher, vegetarian, and can cover any food allergies - to name a few. The DIS has a listing of all the menus, but you can also call Disney if you need anything special. They just need like 48hrs. notice.

Thanks that will work out great. We are planning on purchasing the basic meal plan but I was hoping I could at least take a few items in each day for DD#1. She is lactose intolerant but not allergic to anything. But the only drink she will drink is milk so we always have to take milk with us since she can't drink "regular" milk and won't touch soy. She has sensory integration disorder and can not handle very many food textures. She is turning 5 this month and still eating babyfood, applesauce, and yogurt. I'm sure they might have places to buy applesauce and yogurt but again she is very picky about which ones she will eat she likes berry flavored applesauce (no sugar added) and yogurt with no visible fruit chunks which can be challenging even at places that sell yogurt. Feeding her is stressful enough at home but when going out it can be a disaster. At least knowing I can take a few items in for her helps easy my feeding worries.

Be aware too that you cannot bring in a wheeled cooler. It doesn't sound like you plan on taking anything big, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up. :)

Can I please clarify, I'm a newbie so am still learning...can anyone bring food/drinks into the park or only those who have made previous arrangements with WDW due to dietary needs?

You may want to check into the lockers available at each park. You can take food and drink into the parks. The lockers come in handy when you need to keep items in a cooler for special diets or needs. Even if you park hop I believe you can relocate to another locker at the park you are now at without added cost.

I just returned from WDW, this past Saturday.

I was able to bring-in a small cooler (with 4 half-liter water bottles, 2 cans of Pepsi, and a couple of sandwiches) and experienced zero problems with Disney security (even though the cooler was stowed in the basket underneath our stroller, security still asked to take a look at what was inside).

This was not a one-time occurance, as I was able to do this at all four theme parks and a water park.

Also, Shades of Green sells brown bag lunches (at very reasonable prices) which hotel guests are allowed to take inside the parks.
