I had brought aerosol products for years on airplanes, with no problems. Then, one time, while the can didn't blow up, it never worked again and I lost a full can of expensive hair product. That's when several people said you should never take aerosol products on a plane, because the contents are under pressure. Since then, I haven't, lol. Guess it's a judgment call.
I would make sure the lid is on securely and put it in a ziploc bag. I had a whole can of hairspray ruined because the lid came off and sprayed enough to stop the can up. The funny thing about it in hind sight is it emptyed into one of DH shoes! Of course, it was the expensive kind from a salon, too.
I read on the TSA website that aerosol is not allowed in carry-on or checked luggage except toiletries and personal care products in limited quantities.

I consider hairspray to be a personal care product also. I don't think I quoted exactly from the TSA site, but described it the same way they did. It just made me wonder why is hairspray ok, but maybe not a can of Lysol? It looks like they may be leaving a "gray area" by not specifically listing hairspray, deodorant, etc.

I have taken Pam with me, not quite personal care, but, sometimes you need it to cook personal food. I think if you really stretched Lysol could be considered personal. Hygene.
