Can you store luggage at a resort you are not staying at?

We are staying at Old Key West. On our last day, our flight out is not until 9 pm so we plan to spend the day at Magic Kingdom. With the new policy of taking Magical Express 4 hours before your flight time, we realize we could be losing a lot of park time between our travel back to OKW, and the additional time on ME.

We were wondering if we would be able to Uber from OKW to the Contemporary upon check out with our bags (6 bags that are carry on size), store our luggage with their luggage services, and then head to MK.

At around 5:30 pm, walk to Contemporary, retrieve our bags, and uber to MCO.

Will that work? It feels somewhat dishonest or rude to store bags at a resort we are not staying at, so I was wondering if Disney has an actual policy about it.

Through searching the forums, I see there are also lockers at the TTC that can fit our bags. Are they fairly plentiful? I just wouldn't want to arrive and find they are all occupied and be "stuck" with nowhere to put our bags.

I've never been asked if I were a guest of xxx resort the few times I check our bags when our room wasn't ready. I can't see how it would be a problem. You can check your checked bags with RAC as early as 5:00 at your resort. So it would just be a matter of storing your carry-on's.

Well, we are taking American Airlines and it would cost us $25/bag, unfortunately. We are also considering trying to condense our 6 carry on sizes bags into 2 or 3 full size bags. Since our villa will have it's own laundry, we can probably get away with bringing less clothes.

Thanks, yeah I've never been asked either. For some reason it just feels "rude"--so if there was a Disney policy saying it's ok, it would make me feel better!

Got it, makes sense. Well, my first thought when reading your post was to use RAC and just take a day bag or something small with you that day if needed, if at all possible.

As to lockers, I didn't think there were any at the TTC but I'm not positive about that. I do know there are some outside the MK entrance, but none are really big enough for a full size carry on, they're better for backpacks or similar. Reminder that you'll have to go through bag-check before that point.

The only lockers we've found big enough for our carry on bags are at Epcot, near the buses. They take 4 quarters only, by the way
We always do Epcot as our last day for this reason. We take Uber, which picks up near the luggage lockers, which is nice. And these lockers are outside security so no bag check
I never feel right storing my bags at a resort we are not guests of. Feel like I'm taking up space they can use for the guests. No idea if Disney resorts run out of space in storage or not. I know universal resorts do

No you can't.. And you should not try it..

The hotel is responsible, to a point for REGISTERED guests.. You are adding work load to the hotel where you are not staying, and then you expect them to care for your bags?

What happens if they are lost? You are out of luck is what happens.

Yeah, I wouldn't leave my bags at another resort but just what system is being gamed if someone did?

I am guessing no. If it got out an the internet for that to be an option, there would probably be no room for hotel guest's storage. As long as Disney services the airline, you should be able to use RAC. I fly Southwest now to avoid the baggage fee. The one time I used a different airline, I received in my room check out notice the day before a sheet from Disney giving me a phone number to call to pay baggage fees by credit card. The luggage went the next day as usual. You can also take it down to have it weigh if you are concerned about even distribute to make weight limits. We have had to do some rearranging on the spot. As long as Disney services the airline, you should be able to use RAC.

I think they are carrying them on, though.

I would get a rental car with a trunk though Alamo, national, or enterprise at car care center, leave all the carryons in there, park it where you’ll be, and return it to mco. Might not be the cheapest option, and you’re taking a risk leaving bags in the trunk; but it would get the time savings you’re going for.


(The only time I tried to leave a bag at a hotel I had not been at at all was at Disneyland hotel and they said absolutely NOT to leaving bags there.)

Thanks everyone! I'm definitely not looking to "game the system" which is why I asked if there is an official policy. Just like it's ok for guests of various resorts to go to the nighttime movies and other activities at resorts they are not staying at, I wondered if something like this was ok.
Yes, we've looked into renting a car too. Since we have 6 people, we'd need a larger SUV or minivan and the best deal we've found would be $370 for the duration of our trip.
I'm thinking our best bet at this time is to look into condensing our 6 carry on bags into 2 or 3 large suitcases that we can just check in RAC early that morning.

Hmmm....interesting thought there. I just did a quick search on the Alamo site and it appears that it would be $93 to rent a full size SUV at the car care center and return it at MCO. I talked it over with my husband and he thinks that would work better than paying the luggage fee ($50 or $75, depending on if we need 2 or 3 bags) +Uber (appears to be about $60 for UberXL.)

I’ve never heard of an official policy on this, either saying it’s allowed or not allowed. I suspect it’s left up to Bell Services to decide on a case by case basis.
