Can you still walk to the sandbar on Serenity Bay?

We were there 5 years ago and had the PERFECT day! The water was amazing. There was this small sandbar that I walked out to, finding sand dollars along the way.

Some time after, some guy drowned, and I heard they added lifeguards and didn’t let people go out.

Does anyone know what it’s like there now?

No. They've roped off the bay. You can't get that far out anymore.

Two people drowned in two days at Castaway Cay in February, 2015. The Serenity Bay incident was the first one. It happened to a Dream passenger.

Unless we're thinking about different places, the sandbar is still accessible. It is just inside the marker buoys that they have put up at Serenity Bay. I walked out during relatively low tide in November, and the water was about at knee height.

They will advise you to return. Can’t really force it upon you.

They've moved the markers or the sand bar has moved then. Cool. People had reported that it was outside the markers when they originally delineated where people were allowed to go.

We walked out to the sandbar in December 2016. It was inside the markers - we definitely didn't go outside them. If it's outside that now, then they've moved the markers or the sandbar has shifted.

We walked out to a sandbar 2/2017 with no problem. Water was never more than chest deep and there was no lifeguard telling people to come back. Maybe it was not the same sandbar that had been marked off.

We walked out to the sandbar in May 2017. Some people did go farther out than us, past the buoys, and lifeguards came by in jet skis to tell them to move in.

As stated above, however, the sandbar is not always there.

As a side note....If you try to smuggle sand dollars, shells. etc onto the ship they will confiscate them and toss them in the water. Saw this happen more than once. Leave the sea life in the sea.

So, true. Last fall on the Magic we watched Guenter toss 2 conchs. He did not look happy.

I wouldn’t take them. They were alive!! But I’d never found a sand dollar before. It was very cool
