Can you still tour all the DVC properties or only the new ones?

We are considering buying DVC. I would probably be most interested in one of the "older" properties like SS, OKW, or BCV. Is there a way I can go see rooms at those resorts or can I only tour the newest ones (BLT and AKV)? I don't want to buy points at a resort I haven't seen. Any thoughts on this?

I know they have a sample on the boardwalk open, thats where we signed up for our BLT tour when we went in March. Not sure of the others though.

not easily, no. you can go to the lobby of the resort and - if there is not much activity - you can ask if they have time to escort you to an available room - if there is one - and look at the inside.

alternatively, you can rent a few nights at OKW, SSR and/or BCV to get a feel for staying at those resorts.

but honestly, it's as productive to look at the models they have available for BLT and AKV (and the model over at the BWV), and extrapolate from those models based on online photos of the other resorts. the setups are very similar.

When we were doing our initial research, I spent a lot of time looking at room photos for each resort. The public DVC website has 360-degree room tours for each resort. Start here: http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortOverview?id=ProspectsResortsOverviewPage and click on each resort in turn and the 360-degree tour link will appear.

There are also helpful photo tours available on a number of websites. The ones I found most helpful are on www.tagrel.com Roll your mouse pointer over "Disney Vacation Club" and select one of the room tours from the drop down menu.

Going to visit resorts is a great idea which I highly recommend. You may not be able to get into the rooms, but you can ask for a resort map at the front desk. Also ask them for a recommended walking route to get the feel of the resort. Also, on your list of "older" resorts, don't forget BWV...one of the big advantages is the ability to get standard view rooms at close to OKW point levels.

GOOD LUCK!
