Can you stand one more TL question--T shirts on slides

My oldest DD is very hard to fit for a one piece suit. She is a size 2 jeans and a 36D top. Today we looked at a sporting goods store, but most of those suits are $40 or more. That's a lot for a suit she'll only wear on our TL day (she is 14 and way "too cool" to wear a one-piece to the local pool  ). Will they allow her to go on the slides and in the wave pool at TL wearing a T shirt over her 2 piece suit? We have had no luck finding decent one piece suits at cheaper places like Wal mart or Target.

You can definitely wear a t-shirt over a suit.

Another option is a tankini. As long as it has a shelf bra, it should cover the critical areas. I wore one my first trip down summit plummet, and even though the bottom of the suit flipped up, I was still covered by the bra.

Thanks for the info. I have a tankini myself (with the jogging short bottoms because I'm old :goodvibes ) and will look again for her sizes. It seems most of the stores assume girls her age want to show off as much as they can.
Trvlnut that is a good idea and something I've never heard of, but my particular DD would laugh me out of the house if I tried to get her to wear anything in a pattern like that! :teeth: . 14 year olds are pretty darn particular.

I am pretty sure she can wear a t-shirt in the wave pool. I have heard that people have had to remove their t-shirts at TL to go on the slides. This hasn't happened to me personally at TL but it has at other places.

I think the more powerful slides are T-shirt free, so to speak. I always wear a cover-up at the waterparks (not a cotton T, but a rayon cover-up) and haven't had a problem, but I don't do the extreme slides.

I bet you have to carry a big stick to fend off the 14 year old "excitable" boys. My condolences! :rotfl:

I know what you mean about the sizes! My DD wears a size 3 or 4, and I have a HARD time finding swim suits for her. She's pretty conservative, so she wants one pieces. Luckily, she's fairly small on top, so I can get by with girls size 16s.

musclecar, you have no idea  . Combine that with the fact that she's now a cheerleader, but add that DH doesn't think she should even go to parties with boys present (what other kind are there at 14?), and we have had a lot of fun around here this summer. If we can't find a tankini or let her wear a shirt, I just won't let her go on the big slides. I don't want those TL lifeguards getting a show! ;)

I second the rash guard idea, but I agree about the one posted from REI. We purchased ours (which are actually billed as sun protective clothes) from C Wear Australia (http://www.cwear.com.au/). Everyone in my husband's extended family wears them on sunny days to the pool or the beach. They're comfortable, and the best thing is, while they do dry quickly, they also hold water so you feel cooler even out of the pool.

These are the kinds of shirts that surfers wear a lot. I don't know if they're allowed on the slides at TL, though. One thing we did notice on the slide at our local pool is that the slides are slower if you wear a shirt (or loose swim trunks, etc). Which may or may not be a good thing.

Mur!

Check LL Bean, as I think they had a very good selection of mix & match peices, so maybe she could get a bikini with a matching surf top or something like that.
