Okay, forgive me but I get overwhelmed at all the abbreviations of stuff and I'm new to this. First, we've never been to Disney World and we've got our first cruise booked in October. I'm trying to plan a trip this yr to DW (may have to wait until next) but anywho.....
I see they have the kids free at the park for a 4 night stay. I also see the 40% off the rooms. It seems like it's cheaper to do the kids play free and get a room than to get discounted rooms and pay for tickets (looking at budget to moderate). There are three of us (3 yr old child and us 2 adults). I'm just not seeing or maybe I'm missing to get anything cheaper than their deal. Can anyone help me figure out how all these deals work? We're looking for first week of Sept. Any help would be appreciated. Surely they won't let me get the kid in free AND use the percentage off the rooms? Thanks all.

By the way, tried reading some boards about some of the resorts and I can't keep up with all the dang abbreviations! lol

Sorry. Only one discount per reservation. You might want to price things out both ways. The baetter deal will depend on whether what type of resort level you choose and the number of days that you are staying.

In short, no you can not stack codes. Basically you will have to do the math to find out which Discount is most to your family's benefit. I am not aware of a 4o% discount on room only for a value or moderate unless you were on of the lucky buggers that got that discount in a mailing or email. These are the current room only discounts for room only reservations. If you are Military there are also other discounts available for a slightly deeper percentage off- but you must be Military to use them.

If you are looking at late summer:

Stay dates: 8/14/11-10/1/11. Get a 20%-40% discount off regular "Rack" rates. Percent off varies by resort type. Use offer code YW3 or TSU. Some dates will be blocked out. Rates not available for all dates and resorts.

Save 20% at All Star Movies
Save 25% at select Disney Value Resorts and Port Orleans French Quarter
Save 30% select Disney Moderate Resorts, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Polynesian Resort
Save 35% at select Disney Deluxe Resorts
Save 40% at select Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts

The math teacher in me can't resist:

So for you, Stay and Play is the probably better deal.

No, they won't let you "stack" deals and codes. If you call (as opposed to internet pricing), you can ask them to look at the best deal and to price it several ways. Remember if you do a free-dining offer and get the regular DDP and not the QSDP that you will have additional OOP expense for the tips and that's probably $7-15 per table service meal for a family of 3.

There are ways to save on trips and sometimes the deals aren't the best way to go. We're DVC members and recently scheduled our trip around a Disney Y.E.S individual enrollment class so that we could the tickets at the program price. The class was interesting and the prices were great! Your child isn't quite old enough for a class yet but it's something to keep in mind for later if you want a return trip. Also subscribe to Mousesaver's newletter--mousesavers.com. They have tons of great info and in each monthly newsletter a subscriber link to Undercover Tourist for special deals on tickets. It may not save a ton of money but any could be a good thing.

If you want a bigger room, consider renting points from a DVC member. These would be at Deluxe resorts and not value or moderate. Studios have 'mini' kitchens with fridge, microwave & coffeemaker along with supplies to actually eat easy to fix meals in the room. If you're interested, here's a link to the rent/trade thread here on the DISboards:

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29

You could possibly get a room at some of the DVC resorts for about what you would pay for any other room--OKW is 76 points per week for the month of Sept and points range from $10-12 per point rental so 1 week at this deluxe for $760-$912. Make sure you read the primer before deciding to rent points. A standard view at BWV or AKL is 81-83 points for a week in September--$810-$996

As for the abbreviations....here's a link to give you an idea:
