Can you sit where you want even if you do the Fantasmic Dining Package?

My title says it all I guess!! Honestly though, We are doing the FDP and the main reason is so we don't have to stand in line. We do enough of that. Last year we did the FDP and the show got rained out!!

I have heard that the Dining Package seats are not as good. I guess my question might be a silly one, but I don't want the seat police to tell me I can't sit where I want!!

Once you get in there, you can go sit wherever you want.
We've done this package several times, including this past May...the seats have always been fine.

They have a little area roped off. It's on the right as u sit. But I don't see any reason not to be able to sit where u want

I thought the dinner package seats were fine, but you could move if you want. You are paying to have a guaranteed seat in a good location, I'm not sure why you seem to think they are "seat police" they are what you picked and they "police" more to keep the ones who haven't paid out of YOUR seats. Of course you can move when you get in the stadium BUT by the time you get up there with the crowd of other dinner people the other people will have been let into the stadium long before you and your choices may be worse than the dinner seats, (which like I said I thought were fine) especially if you need several together.

They told us as we entered that the roped off area was for the package but feel free to sit where we wanted. They were also letting the regular people in as well, so we sat right in the middle section one third the way down.

Unless we arrive late we never sit in the Fantasmic Section. We go in through the Oscar's entrance, but depending on what's available usually walk around the roped off section reserved for the Fantasmic Pkg and sit in the 'Scar Section'.

We did the FDP on our last trip to Disney. I did encounter "seat police". When we got there the amphitheatre was filling up so we were at the upper section of the roped off area. We wanted to sit in a bleacher that was a bit higher than some of those that were open, but the usher would not let us. We had to fill in as close to the bottom as possible. She was very unwilling to cooperate.

I have never encountered a line in August, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. They open up the stadium at least an hour and a half before the show and both with and without the package, I've entered at about 45 minutes to an hour before and have never seen a line. We just looked for seats.

We've done Fantasmic both without the package and with the package and every time, we could see that we didn't really need the package at all. We had booked it for fear of a line that there never was (except in peak season maybe).

One time we did the package 'just in case' but didn't use our voucher and entered the main entrance with everyone else and just sat right in the middle, half way back; the best seats we ever had. I kept the voucher as a souvenir. We haven't done the package since.

The main advantage as you well know is that the FDP affords you considerably shorter wait times ahead of the show (30-45 as opposed to the traditional 60-90). The 'preferred' seating as you also know is actually off to the side.

While there is supposedly no bad seat in the house, there is something to be said about the advnatages of sitting in the center so as to better appreciate the scope and gandeur of the show. Of course, there is no telling when god will decide when he wants the best seat in the house while watching all his creatures start the Exodus when it rains.

As for the seat police, I don't seem to recall that there was any monitoring going on so if you were to decide that you wanted to visit the concession stand that you could then endeavor to procure better seat elsewhere.

I guess the real deciding factor is what is more important - shorter wait and not as good seating or longer wait with better seating. If the meal is important to you than this decision becomes easy.

In Sept (when the OP is going) you can enter at 1 hour or even 45 minutes before the show and still get GREAT seats and there is no line; you just pick your seat and sit and wait. The package isn't even necessary at that time of the year.

Also, the waiter/waitress will tell you to go to the special package entrance by 45 minutes before to get your seats because at 30 minutes before the show, the package section can, and sometimes does, open up to the general public. They are only guaranteed till 30 minutes before the show.
