Okay I know a few of you will come crashing down on me here, so I am putting on my flame proof suit. My question is this. I have about $300 in Disney rewards that have sitting there for a long time. We are in very rough financial circumstances right now and who knows when we will ever be able to get back to the parks. Can I sell those rewards? Could I sell them to a friend who is going and transfer the rewards to her name? Just trying to be as creative as humanly possible to get us some extra $$ to pay the bills!

Technically, you are not supposed to be allowed to sell them. So don't try to put them up on craigslist or ebay. The rewards card has no name on it, so if you gave it to your friend, there is no reason at all that they could not use it. And if they wanted to do something nice for you in return (like a grocery gift card or Visa card), there's no reason that they couldn't do that either.

Another thought: you could take those rewards dollars and buy a gift card with them. Then you could sell the gift card at Plastic Jungle or ebay or wherever.

So I can buy a disney gift card with the points and try and trade it for another gift card or something on plastic jungle? Am I understanding correctly?

you cannot purchase a disney GC with a disney visa rewards (as per the disney visa FAQ), nor are the points transferrable to another person's acct.
as pp said, selling it is prohibited (remember also, that the reward card is linked to your account. while it shouldn't be a problem, i wouldn't feel comfortable with giving or selling it to a total stranger. weird things happen...).
i would definately consider as pp said: asking a good friend or relative if they were interested, give them the rewards card with points on it, and hopefully, they will consider a visa or grocery GC as a thank you.

You can use your rewards card to purchase gift cards on the disneystore website. I do it all of the time so that I don't have points sitting in my account, just in case Chase decides to change the terms.

You need to transfer the points to rewards card first. Then use the rewards card to purchase a gift card on the disneystore website.

Plastic Jungle will buy your gift cards from you for less than the actual value. But they will send you cash for it and since you basically got it for "free", it's still a plus for you.

you can also go to disneystore.com and use them to buy clothes, etc. that you or your kids might need. That's what I always did before we started going to wdw. I cashed out my points every year before Christmas.

I have transfer my points to the rewards card, then I purchase a gift card. My points were ready to expire and I wasn't ready to renew my annual pass. I use my points to renew my pass. You cannot just have the points placed onto the gift card, they must first go onto a reward card, but you can purchase a gift card with a rewards card :upsidedow
