Can you see fireworks from the Hyatt Regency OC?

I am trying to make plans for nighttime, especially our first night after driving with no park tickets. Can you see them from the room? If so, is there a side to request? Or they seem to have some deck with fire pit?

You’re about 3 blocks away with a lot of tall buildings between you and DL, and the Pixar fireworks are lower and more pyro and light effects, which would not be high enough. I wouldn’t plan on viewing from your hotel. The main highlight of Pixar is the projections, you’ll miss the meat of the show! This one really isn’t the type of show you can view from outside the park and really enjoy.

Darn! But thanks! Are these best seen on the castle? I saw a post that said they looked great on Main Street too but I’m not sure what the difference is.

Main St is what we prefer for these ones! There are some neat surprises on Main St that aren’t on the castle. We like to be toward the castle end of Main St, between buildings.

We stayed there last weekend with my kid's band trip. It's 1.7 miles to Disneyland-- you can see very distant light but no fireworks. It's a nice hotel, though.

On a side note: They have a dedicated shuttle (which we managed to overwhelm with 50 odd kids). It leaves for the parks at 15 and 45 minutes after the hour, and returns on the hour and half hour. It costs $6 a day per person, both ways, with all-day back and forth privileges. The bad thing about it is that the first shuttle leaves 45 minutes before park opening, putting you at security a half hour before park opening. When we got there, the security line was very long-- it took us 15 minutes to get through. They had already opened the gates so people could go up to the rope drop. We were late getting into CA and getting our first MaxPass. If I was planning on rope dropping, I'd uber up first thing in the morning to get to security at least 45 minutes before opening, maybe an hour.

We watched the fireworks from the hyatt regency parking lot just fine, but we also watched from in the park and the two experiences are not comparable

The Grand Regency is our hotel of choice for off-site. 15+ visits. Unfortunately, as others have posted, there is no view of the fireworks. in fact, there is another hotel directly north blocking any chance of a view. The deck with the fire pit is also located on the opposite side. Starbucks in the lobby is a really nice feature. Good time to grab your beverage of choice prior to the shuttle arriving. Two pools (we prefer the ground floor pool) and walking distance to some great restaurants is also a plus.

Also there's a Target sort of kitty corner across the street, which is great for groceries to stock your room.

But not the current show-? There just aren’t a lot of upper level fireworks and there are 3 tall hotel buildings right in the Hyatt parking lot.

Hi @avalon451, I'm going to be staying at Hyatt Regency OC in August when I visit. Yikes, so the 1st shuttle is 45 mins before park opening, so if I'm doing Magic Morning, I should Uber/Lyft instead maybe? If so, what was the price and where do they drop you off? Thanks!

So, you should call the hotel to ask, because I THINK, but I'm not sure, that they go 45 mins before magic morning at DL, Tuesday Thursday Saturday. So that would put you at security a half hour before. Personally I'd like to be through security and at the gate by then. So yeah, I think I'd uber.
They drop you at bay 13, in the shuttle dropoff area off Harbor. If you look at google maps, you can see this area where you walk into the gates, by the crosswalk across from Best Western Park Place Inn. It is the bay closest to the street on the north side of that island. It's very weird, because the bay numbers start with 1, on the south side, then run up to the top closest to security with bay 11 and 12, then a big empty spot, then 14... down to like bay 18 or 20, and then 13 out of order on the farthest end. No idea why.
It costs $6 per person, per day. You buy a pass from a kiosk that looks like a cash machine, in the lobby next to Starbucks. This gives you back and forth privileges all day. It takes off from right in front of the hotel; there is a little queue roped off to the right of the front door as you come out. Side note: both times we shuttled back at closing, they did not bother to check our passes or even look at them. We could have ridden back to the hotel for free. Not sure if it was because it was after the park closed and one of the last couple of runs of the night.

Wow, thanks for getting back to me so fast!
I will definitely check with them to see if they run the shuttles earlier due to Magic Morning.
The back and forth privieges is awesome for coming back for an afternoon nap :)
When you Uber-d there, how much did you pay on average with tip included?
Thanks in advance!

Well, I didn't uber myself, though some of the other chaperones in our party did, they didn't mention how much it ended up being. I think they can give you an estimate on the website? I'd be surprised if it was more than 10 bucks. It's not even 2 miles.

Ugh... I liked the menu when it first opened, then they changed it for the worse, but there were still a couple things I might order. With this new menu, there isn't anything I'd want to order. So disappointing.

It is Outback Steakhouse and Red Robin across the street

What DizneyMommy said :) They both fell like really good values after eating at park prices all week!
