we will be at universal in september. my plan is to get a rental car at the airport, use it to get to sapphire falls when we arrive on saturday, go to mnsshp on sunday, then return car. we would use a driving service to get back to the airport. does this sound like a good idea? rather than keeping the car the whole time when it would just sit the rest of the days. (4 more days)

I would check the price of the few day rental + car service versus a one week rental. If the price is substantially the same, I'd just keep the car.

Universal has some kind of affiliation with Hertz.
Not sure if they have anything onsite, but I remember a Hertz desk at the Attraction Ticket Center in the lobby where you can make a reservation or pickup your keys.

Budget and Avis are nearby (Kirkman Rd and Major Blvd) but not on property.

As Pooch noted above, I would check prices to keep the vehicle the whole week, suspect it will be cheaper and less of a hassle than a one-way rental and paying for taxi/Uber back to the airport. If renting a vehicle, don't forget to factor in the $12/day self park fee at the resort.

Alternately, you could book Universals' SuperStar Shuttle Service (1-877-801-9720) for round trip airport transportation to and from Universal and then use Uber for MNSSHP.

Hertz is onsite at USO hotels but rates have always been higher to either pick up or drop there compared to RT at MCO. Also keep in mind you have to pay for parking at their hotels too and then pay for parking at MNSSHP. Then gas & tolls. :headache:
Personally, I'd get a private transportation service.

Alamo and National are at the walkable (or $10 cab) Four Points Sheraton.

If the only overnight you'll be parking at Uni is Saturday, as log as you have returned to car before midnight on Sunday you'll only be charged the one parking fee. So check in sat, park overnight, go to the party at Disney and return the car before you go back to the resort, and it's just the Saturday charge. If you stay Sunday night with the car you'll pay parking that night too.
