can you return items purchased at WDW at the disney store?

that's what i thought, but i just spoke to a disney store cast member who told me no. i don't want to make the trip to the store to be turned away :-/

I've done it once before, with a receipt, and it was a toy that was sold in WDW and in Disney Stores. The Disney Store CM told me that the products sold in the parks vs. the stores are slightly different (although there was no difference that I could see), and they weren't supposed to take park returns. But she did make an exception and let me do the return in the store that one time. This was a few years ago, though.

If you are talking about the WoD store at Disney Springs, then probably yes.

If you are talking about a Disney Store far from WDW, then I wouldn't count on it. The merchandise is often different. When last I asked, I remember getting an explanation that they were no longer tied to each other as they once were.

The Disney Stores in towns/malls throughout the country no longer accept returns for items purchased in the parks. Most of the items sold in the Disney Stores are different from what is sold at DW and DLR. They are two separate divisions within the Disney Company.

It has been a few years but when I was a Disney Store CM we were not allowed to take parks returns. Even if the items were exact (there are a few you'll find at both that might have a disney parks or disney store sticker for the opposite area) the skus, pricing, and inventory are different. Also the divisions are two different books so Disney Store giving money back for Disney Parks products would equal a negative in their books instead of a net 0.

thanks for all the replies. i ended up calling it in, and you are correct about the WDW park merchandise being different from the store.

i gave them the item #s from my receipt and they generated a return merchandise number for me to include with a copy of my receipt when i send my stuff back. shipping back to them is on us, so be prepared for that. i have big items so not looking forward to that, but such is life. i'm also putting signature confirmation on my package and was told that someone at the warehouse will indeed be able to sign for it. hope this helps anyone else considering returning items in the future!
