Can you rent bikes ahead of time at HHI?

I've recently read a few posts that people weren't able to rent bikes because they were sold out. We will be there in August with our two teens, each of whom are bringing a friend. They definitely want to rent bikes and I don't want to take any chances that they won't be available. Does anyone know if we can reserve them now and if so how/where and how much $? Thanks!

I'm not sure that you can reserve your bikes ahead of time. You might want to call the resort's front desk (843-341-4100) and ask them that.

I do know that often, at busy times, they have a "load" of bikes delivered to the resort from another bicycle rental place. There are also other places that rent bikes and will deliver them to you at the resort and pick them up at the end of your stay.

Not sure what the prices will be. I think last year, it was $50 for two bikes for the length of stay and $10 or $15 for each additional bike. That's another question I would ask the front desk when you call.

There are many bike rental companies on the island, should the resort run out. I wouldn't worry too much about advance arrangements. I'm sure the resort can direct you to a rental if they are out, but they will give you a listing of HH island services and there are a number of rental places available.

Bike riding is great at HH. There are miles of paved trails all over the island (the best ones are within Sea Pines Plantation) plus, the beach is a great place to ride. There are nice "hidden" spots to visit- easily accessed by bike (Indian Mounds, Plantation ruins, stables, beautiful golf courses, tennis facilities, and more!)

Gosh, I really appreciate this board. I too am going in August (5 of us including 3 children 7,9 and 11 y.o.). We were looking forward to renting bicycles for the whole week. I would hate to have them out.
