Yes, I remember it clearly. It was an upstairs apartment on Brinkerhoff Steet where my parents moved shortly after I was born. I can still remember being in a crib early on. I remember my mother hanging Christmas cards on a ribbon draped across a wall. I remember there was a closet over the staircase to the apartment and right in front of that, there was a window that I would sit in front of and watch the snow fall plus cars and people going by. It is also the first Christmas I remember. I only remember that one because before I turned 5 we had moved into the house my dad built.
When I was 4 and I got to look at the Sears catalog and pick out the items I wanted. I remember my mother writing down the items. In my greed filled brain I remember thinking that if I make a big list I won't get every thing but I might get more things. Of course, it was split up from Santa and other family relatives. I was the first child born in my family generation and I raked in for quite a few years. It worked and I also remember being shocked when I got everything on the list. A habit I continued until my sister was born when I was seven. After that it was share time. Bah Humbug!
