Can you recommend good shoes for the rain?

Yeah so...I'm from AZ & I'm still unsure what all this "rain" stuff is but I know I'm ill equipped to take it on!!!

Can anyone out there recommend some good shoes? I thought I was ready but that's because everytime we've been in CA the weather has been mild. I don't want to change my socks constantly!

I was looking at those Croc boot styles...not sure if that's what I want tho. I typically wear converse or my Nike's...but I foresee wet ankles & socks in those!

 I am trying to figure out the same thing. We will be there this weekend and I was just going to wear my standard tennis shoes, but started wondering if something like those imitation UGG boots would work - or would they just get totally soaked like my tennis shoes?

If you do wear Crocs, just be careful because they get very slippery when they're wet. My son had taken a couple of bad falls stepping out of the wet onto dry floor with Crocs on!

Crocs are not good in the rain. It will feel like you are walking on ice. They were the only shoes I brought last year when it rained and I was constantly slipping or trying not to.

Yeah if the weather is warm enough I say Crocs because it doesn't matter if your feet get wet then :)

The problem is the bottom of the shoe, there is no grip to it. The bottom is slick/ smooth and when it gets wet you can literally skate with them on.

I have merrell water sandals (similar to tevas) and I live in those at DL! Rain and/or water rides make no difference... no wet socks for me!

Ok.....so narrowing that down, ;) WHAT would work?

Warm...feet stay dry...no slippage!

I was actually looking at rainboots at Target today, almost ludicrous considering how little it rains here, LOL!

I was planning on just wearing my running shoes, but then who wants to have wet shoes and socks? ewwwww...

I went shopping yesterday to find a new pair of Nike flip flops. Those are the BEST for the parks. But, sorry to say, I couldn't find them in Chicago. I'm going to try a sports store tomorrow. Maybe I'll have luck there. Otherwise I think I saved my pair from last year.

I know So Cal is having all of this rain now, but at least it's not below freezing and snow like we have here. I hate the cold, I hate the snow. I don't even like leaving my house. We're not getting to DLR until 1/29, so I'm hoping the sun is shining and it's 70's in Anaheim. But if not, oh well...we're still coming!

I just bought some rain shoes (Totes) at TJ Maxx. They were on clearance for $15 and I got another $5 off because of a minor problem. They're short boot-style black shoes with laces, are made for rain and have a warm lining inside. Very comfortable! I wore them all day yesterday to test them out.

Drinkme - Maybe it's because I'm from where I'm from but I can't imagine wet toes in flip flops, LOL! If it's under 70 I have warm shoes on...cool weather wimp that I am!!

Disme - Wondering if my TJMaxx will have the same inventory...

I'm just hoping for SUN. If it could just all dry up from Feb 3 - 6!!! Please!!!! :worship:

Even though it doesn't rain a lot in CA, I definitely appreciate having both my rain shoes & rain boots. I've had mine from the last big el nino year about 10 years ago.

My shoes sound like the ones bought at TJMaxx. They're made w/cushy lining so they're pretty comfy. My rain boots, however, would need to have nice cushioned soles inserted to be able to be worn all day. They have so many stylish ones out these days.

I do wish, though, that they sold those rain boots that you just slip on over your tennies, like when I was a kid...comfort & waterproof.

Hope you find some good shoes for your trip!

When are you coming? If it's soon, nothing short of full on rain boots or galoshes will do.

My main beef with Disneyland is how darn slippery the paths get. They are horrible in the rain, especially in Fantasyland! To that end, make sure you have shoes with GOOD TREAD, and preferably new. I would NEVER try to wear Crocs in the rain at DLR. No way.

Plus, it's really cold here. Not going to warm up anytime soon. Plan for some thick socks and waterPROOF shoes if you will be here during any significant rainfall. Otherwise, some standard leather athletic shoes will suit you just fine.

I love to hike and backpack. I have a pair of New Balance 1110 shoes. They make them for men and women and have the New Balance options for width and extended sizes.

They are wonderfully sure and stable on slick/wet environments. Mine really don't need to be "broken in" as much as my other shoes. The only downside is that they are not a high top shoe, so if you go in water over the depth of the side then water will do down into the shoe.

usually it is not necessarily cold when it rains in CA, When that is the case we wear our Chaco sandals. Of course we wear our chaco sandals almost always !

They have rain crocs - made for rain. I was looking at those. Friends who went to WDW said they were fine in rainy weather w/ crocs but I don't think it was anything like this & I'm SURE the cement is different.

Will be in DL Feb 3 -5, beach on the 6th! EEK!!

LOL! That is so funny.

When my oldest dd was a teen, she would wear flipflops all year round. Except when the snow got too deep!

Yeah....my DD walked the bus stop in 44 degrees in flip flops this morning. It was so hard to keep my mouth shut!!! I told her she should go to college in North Dakota...girl does NOT have desert blood flowin' thru her! :rotfl:
