Okay so I still have like 5 months before the cruise but the sunscreen is just starting to make its way into stores again. Wondering if you can recommend a good spray sunscreen. Particularly one to put on my head if I decide to go with the cornrows, something that sprays easy and doesn't cause a lot of buildup. Any brands you'd recommend?

I always use banaboat for my girls, they are very pale and never had a problem with burning. Bana Boat offers many varietys on sprays both thick and thin consistancy. Hope that helps. I had a dream last night about buying sun screen for our vacation in April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JC Butterfly....at the cabana by The Dolphins beech and pool they sell a tanning oil/sunscreen that is all NATURAL...no burning of the eyes when you perspire.....it is expensive but worth it!!!!

Unfortunately I'm on the West Coast cruises so no dolphin beach for me. I'm not sure if I trust an "all natural" product. Give me chemical protection.

glad to hear banana boat is a good choice. I found one made by baby blanket that is specifically for the scalp line, maybe that's one I should consider too.

One more to add to the mix:

Bullfrog Quick-Gel spray. Dries super fast. I spray it on DS's head every day all summer for Y-Camp. Keeps his little buzzed head from burning.

Coppertone Sport Spray SPF 30! Waterproof and sweatproof. This stuff is awesome. I usually french fry in no time at all and this stuff keeps me from getting burned.

Whatever you do.... Make sure that you get a nice even spray. My dorkwad of a husband was spraying my back really close even though I told him to make sure it was just a nice mist because he seemed to think i would have better protection. Well, I ended up with perfect circles of white where he sprayed me and red spaces where it missed due to his method. At least what he did wrong was obvious, maybe next time he'll listen.

Banana Boat makes a scalp spray, which is hard to find, but works well. We also use the Coppertone Sport gel spray (they have two sprays, so look for the gel one).

We LOVE this stuff!! Have used they past 2 years and my very fair DD has never burned!! I love the wp sp factor!! Highly recommend this product

As a Floridian who take his family to the beach for two weeks every summer, I also recommend the Coppertone No-rub sports spray. Make sure that you get the no rub, not the spraying lotion. It is quick and easy to spray all the kids with the no-rub spray, and no one has to try to rub in all of the lotion. It is also great for spraying scalps after hair braiding (although it might not be so good for your hair, it is better than trying to rub lotion on). This stuff is waterproof, and it has always worked great. Since it is clear, you do need to be careful that you don't miss any spots when spraying it on.

I have to agree with Tri-Circle-D. I'm in So. California and buy the Coppertone no rub spray at Costco. I am very fair and have never burned using this stuff. HTH

Just thought of something to add. While the spray are great you'll probably still want to get a lotion for doing faces.

I sprayed the lotion in my hands and then put it on my face but it burned a little (I think there's alcohol in the sprays). I could just have sensitive skin though.

I looked on the Coppertone website, www.coppertone.com , and I don't find a spray gel. I found a Coppertone Sport Sunblock Spray but it doesn't say that it is a gel. It says it is a no rub formula. It is also ultra sweatproof and waterproof. They have a Coppertone Sport Sunblock Gel but it does not come in a spray. For those of you that recommend this Coppertone, is it the sport sunblock spray that you use? Thanks for the information.

It's the no rub spray -- I said gel because it sprays out clear, not like lotion. I use the stick on my face.

Coppertone sport spray for my family. Never once been burned. I spray it on our face too. Just close my eyes and spray, then wait til it dries to open my eyes. For the kids, I spray it in my hand and wipe it on their faces.
