Can you recommend a nice B&B in Edinburgh City Centre?

Hi

Possibly looking into going to Edinburgh for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary, as we have decided not to go away next year as we want to get that bl**dy loan paid off so we can start trying for little ones.

Am trying to find the best prices possible, so am looking into a smaller B&B rather than a hotel.

It needs to be within 10 mins walk of main city centre area (bars, shops, restaurants etc) but also no more than £30 per person per night, with breakie included.

Can anyone recommend anywhere, or any good reliable web sites?

Ta v much

Byeeeee :wave2:

Does it have to be within the city centre? You might be pushing it trying to get a b+b for £30 p/p within walking distance of Princes Street.

Hmmm...well as close as poss as if we go we will probably be flying so won't have a car with us, and we don't want to spend loads of money on taxi's every day.

Here is the official web site. Might get some inspiration there.

Staying/eating in Edinburgh can be very expensive. Have you thought about visiting Glasgow?

Not a bad idea and you are only a 1hr by train away from Edinburgh :)

There are chain hotels in Edinburgh -IBIS and Travel lodge are both pretty central and about £50- £60 per room per night.
A Hotel I've often liked the look of is the Bank hotel on the royal mile not sure of prices but Hotelsdirect website usually has good deals . Good Luck

You can get the tourist board brochure and it gives you details of all the B&Bs. I have not got the link but just search Edinburgh Tourist Board.

We have been to the New Year street party loads of times (DH is from Livingston) and stayed in the point hotel in Bread Street three times, which is five minutes from Princess Street and the Hard Rock Cafe in George Street. We found this to be the cheapest hotel at New Year but probably fairly expensive compared to the chains like Travelodge.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Susan

I stayed in Livingston before moving to Mid then East Calder. Which part is DH from ?

The Travellodge in Central Edinburgh is already booked up for the days we want to travel.

Will keep looking, but have possibly found a few for about £40 per person per night, so maybe we could stay for 3 nights rather than 4 to keep costs down, and drive rather than fly.

Hmmmm...will keep searching.

Thanks

Have you looked at "16lynedochplace"? It's £70-100/night (depending on when you go) for a double/twin room with a great breakfast. Stayed there a couple of years ago, and my parents were there last summer. The owners are really nice. It's within 10 mins of Princes St, about 5 mins from a Browns Restaurant, and 20-25 mins walk (including the uphill bit!) from the castle. Have you thought about cheap flights with Easyjet from Luton? - must beat driving all that way!

I think it was Knightridge. The roads are all alphabetical. His parents have now moved to Dedridge.
