Can you put your PHP onto your room key?

I thought I read of someone saying they did this. When they checked into their WDW resort, they were able to put their PHP onto their room key, so their room key would be their ticket. Am I just imagining this, or is this possible?

Thanks-

Sorcha

It's possible if you purchase your PHP at resort check-in. You will pay the higher gate price for it but they can encode it onto your resort ID.

It's not possible if you purchased your PHP from any source (including Disney or will call) prior to arriving at the resort.

Nope, I got mine from Hotwire. Oh well.

All Ultimate Park Hoppers will be automatically placed onto the room key.

For other ticket media, anything purchased AT the Front Desk can be placed onto the room key, although most times we'd put them on separate cards.

Anything purchased outside the front desk cannot.

IMHO, it's better this way. Resort IDs have dates on them, which might make folks think that the tickets on them have expired, when really, a Park Hopper Plus does not expire.

so would you continue to use your old room key as your park hopper even on your following trip? i think that would be confusing.

On a slightly different note, why are APs (and I assume park hoppers) printed on such flimsy material, when things like MNSSHP which are only used once are printed on a decent sturdy credit card - makes no sense to me at all.

Any ticket sold at the front desk CAN be put on a room key (except special event tickets...E-ride, MVMCP, MNSSHP). As long as it is purchased at the front desk. When guests come to me to buy tickets I personally ask them if they want them on the room ID cards or a seperate ticket (unless it is UPH which has to be on the room card). Most people still want it on the room card so they are not carrying two cards around.

As for the question asked by BevS97, yes if you have tickets from previous years that still have days left on them and they are on your old room keys you would use the old key in the turnstile, or you could have it incorporated (exchanged) into a new ticket at the front desk. And to answer your other question... The stock that is used for the AP's is actually better than the hard ticket (like MNSSHP and your room key)... They may seem flimsy, but they are indestructable. The "paper" tickets are water proof, tear proof and flame retartant. The other typ of ticket can be bent in half, cracked and torn in two fairly easily.

My AP held up very well. I went to the parks 86 times last year and the ticket is still in great shape.
