Can you purchase DVC through Disney (getting the extra point benefits) but not finance through Disney and instead use a home equity loan?

tks!

That's how we did our first contract...put it on our CC and paid the bill with money from a home equity loan.

You could get the Disney Chase Visa card, pay with that and then pay that off using Home Equity to get the Disney reward dollars.

Yup. That's how we did ours. Or you could pay those ridiculous rates:confused3 that Disney is charging.

That's what I've done everytime. My initial buyin saved me $330 in disney rewards.

We did that in April, bought a DVC SSR contract from Disney with the Disney Visa. Then paid it off with a 6.8% 60 month personal loan from Capital One. Got the DVC, paid less than Disney financing for a shorter time, and get the bonus rewards from the visa to use on our next trip. We plan to pay it off in 3years by applying a portion of our tax return next year as well. Then by the time we have paid it off, we will be ready to buy some more points hopefully at Contemporary Resort DVC I'm hoping they are building now lol. If not we will get some AKV points. Just have to find another good financing vehicle by then.:cool1:

From time-to-time I've been getting offers from credit card companies to transfer balances for 0% interest. Sometimes this involves applying for a new card, and other times it is an offer on an existing card. If you've ever gotten one of those offers, here's an idea: purchase your DVC using the Disney Visa (or any other card that would be suitable), then transfer that balance to the 0% "balance-transfer" card. Voila! :wizard: Instant 0% financing! Has anybody done that? Is there any reason why it would not work? Is there some fine print in the 0% transfer that I'm missing? :confused3

yes... I believe you have to pay at least 2.5 to 3% of the balance regardless of the 0% interest per month

also it would effect credit

I wish I would have read this discussion board before we purchased. I financed thru Disney with the intention of paying it off early.

It is too late for me to transfer it to my Disney Visa card?

I did that and there was zero transfer fee. Zero. They, Citi, waived it. I called a number of times to verify and yes, it was zero. So I am paying off my AKV add on by paying off the Citi card, no interest for a year.

We put the entire purchase on our Disney Visa earning our points, then got a home equity loan and paid off the visa card using that. The trick we did though was had our guide separate the purchase so that $2500 of the purchase could remain on our CC balance for 6 months with no interest. YES THIS DOES WORK!!! It's been 3 months now and we pay off the balance of the card plus a couple hundred dollars of the $2500 and we have incurred no interest! We'll have that $2500 paid off before the 6 months is up and saved ourselves a little bit of interest. Every little bit helps!:goodvibes
