SO i have about $175 in disney visa rewards available. They will still be good for our next trip, but i was wondering if i would be able to use it at the disney store online to purchase gift cards. It is nice to give each kid their own card to use and then they can manage how much they spend and what they want to buy.

No, you can't. The rewards card is treated like a gift card. You can't buy GCs with GCs.

I have used my rewards redemption card to purchase gift cards. If you go to disneygiftcard.com to order the card, they list "Disney Rewards Redemption Card" as a form of payment accepted for gift cards. You can also purchase them with the rewards at a Disney Store.

Yes you can. Guests used to do it at our suggestion when they were concerned about an expiring Disney Rewards card.

I did it on line when I was going to cancel my Premiere Disney Visa card and would have lost the rewards that I had on a rewards card

It is not a GC, so you can use it for tickets. However, GCs cannot be used to purchase GCs. Curious why you would want to,use it on GCs though?

I did this exact thing a couple of months ago. Wanted to use up the rewards before I cancelled the credit card.

I just want to give my kids their own "spending money" and when it is gone it is gone. And the extra I might put into the disney vacation account.

Before Disney Visa changed its rules, the rewards card would expire December 31st of the year after you got it. So if you got it in 2010, it would expire December 31, 2011.

Now it doesn't expire (yay) but if you were to ever cancel the credit card (or the credit card company cancelled your card on its own without giving you a new card [if they deemed you too much of a credit risk or for whatever reason]), all rewards are forfeit. So, one would put it on a gift card to avoid that.

I got my card(s) last year and they both show an expiration of 12/16.

For anyone who got their redemption card in 2014 or 2015 that has an expiration date, they no longer expire. I just ordered a card because some of my rewards points were expiring (they expire after 5 years) and I did not want to lose them. IN the past, the redemption card has always expired and I was worried as I am not sure when my next trip will be, didn't want to lose the reward points that were expiring, but worried if I ordered the redemption card and then didn't use it, they would expire anyway when the redemption card expired. Happily, I found this out:

(this is for you kristenrice and any others who have expiration dates on their redemption card)

If you were issued a Redemption Card during the calendar years of 2014 and 2015, it may have an expiration on the card so if you have not redeemed all of the Reward Dollars prior to the expiration date on the Redemption Card, you may transfer those Reward Dollars to a new Redemption Card without an expiration date.
